Not asking about achievements in work/love/health/etc. but about your esence as a person. Like how you wish people would describe you.

I’m pretty close to being who I can bother to be. I should be better at visiting family, I should be better at talking to my friends, but anything involving people exhausts me.

I don’t want people to have glowing opinions or me or even be overly impressed. What I do want them to describe me with is that I cared. Maybe not for them, but in general. “He’s quiet and detached, but his actions showed he cares in his own way.”

I spend time around holidays creating little gifts for my dentist, doctor’s office, co-workers, and other places I visit. Why? Partly because I want to make a difference. I want to make an impact. Did my little gift brighten someone’s day? If it did then it was worth it. If it didn’t then better luck next year.

A selfish part of me wants it to be an expectation. That if I ever die or move on they might wonder why I stopped. That I might be remembered for it. I guess it’s just my way to leave my mark on the lives of those around me.

Wise and kind! It’s an eternal WIP but there have definitely been some developments, especially regarding my mental health and ideology/understandings, and overall maturity… I think my neurodivergence, combined with childhood trauma, created some hills I had to climb, and it has also shaped me irreversibly, but I find I have enough free will to make accumulating changes.

My family and friends often come to me either to have a shoulder to cry on or for advice, even my co-workers (some of them are my friends now as well) will open up, expecting what my vibes are selling, I guess, and I always find it endearing (couple of times it’s been shocking and kinda made me panic as in “what do I say here?!” but that’s how it goes sometimes). I think people find me at least reliable and understanding (which does not discount me being weird AF in some areas, sometimes annoying or even, rarely, hurtful, and that’s the whole package), which is not bad already.

I’d say I’m who I need to be. To be at least tolerated by others, I was taught to be friendly, kind, and accepting of others so that’s what I try to be. In terms of who I want to be? I never had a goal so I’d say I’m where I need to be.

I care more about accomplishing and learning things. I’m me and as long as I’m not an asshole, I don’t see a reason to try to be someone I’m not.

I am, by nature, a naive and eager person. I am also on the autism spectrum

I have spent my entire life trying to feel included, trying to see the best in people and yearning for friends and good times

I’ve used my weird sense of humor, my hyper spirit, and my childlike energy, at about as late as the age of 23, to try to amuse others. And for a bit maybe I did

But now, I wish to be different. I wish to be reserved, more brooding for a change. I wish I could be less chipper and SpongeBobesque, because it’s done nothing but embarrass or hurt me

I’m turning 25 now, growing out my first beard. It’s been a couple of years since I abruptly stopped acting that way. Life feels dull now, but I still feel like if I can just prove to the world that I’m not weak and childlike, then maybe I can win in some small way

Reads very similar to me. I’m mid 30s and still a kid, dont really care what others think, I’m not gonna be a boring ass adult. Lost a lot of friends due to them bring boring as shit and ignoring me. Not a big deal, I make more friends.

(Note that this doesnt mean being irresponsible and immature. I mean not giving in to having a TV in my bedroom so I can watch football and the news all day after work then sleep, and never do anything else. No thanks. )

      I also can’t grow a beard lol.

You do you but dont change yourself because you think its wrong. Unless that makes you happy.

I’ll never be a football guy that’s for sure. But yeah I’m still trying to figure myself out. Nothing wrong with eccentric maturity I suppose. Still be a silly little shit but don’t overdo it?

People also used to make fun of me for being goofy and autistic, still do, and I don’t really give a shit now.

Like I said you be you, maybe if you feel like changing it up see how you like it but dont force yourself to be a dark brooding person if thats not you at all. Just my opinion

Life feels dull now, but I still feel like if I can just prove to the world that I’m not weak and childlike, then maybe I can win in some small way

You’ll discover in the years ahead that the secret is not caring what the world thinks. You don’t need to prove to the world anything. You can find yourself, decide what values are important to you, and then live your live according to your definition of whats right. When people say “be true to yourself” this is what they’re talking about.

There’s a step beyond this too. When you know whats important to you, you make a real evaluation of who you are and what you do. You decide if your actions and behaviors match your values. If not, you work to make improvements in yourself. You do it because its important to you and not someone else. Improvements like these can be difficult adopt. You don’t have to do it all overnight. Some improvements aren’t a one-and-done but rather a way of living. I’m positive I’ll go to my grave continuing to try to be a better version of myself, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Each day take the action that, at the end of each day, makes you proud of yourself. The race is long, but only ever against the old version of yourself.

I’m past the point of wanting to be, and more focused on what I want to do.

I’m actually pretty happy with who I am and a lot of that has come with age, wisdom, and having the support system to be more fully and bravely myself. I’m confident and happy enough to worry a lot less of others’ view of me because of that steady foundation. I also know that’s a massive privilege.

What I want to do is make other people’s lives better where I can. I want to share the advantages given to me, the resources I have, and leave things a little better in my wake than when I found them. I want to lift others up and see them grow and thrive. Whether or not people know or even remember that is not something I’m concerned with, because it’s the impact I care about.

I also want to enjoy the time I have while I have it. I know I’m only one person and can’t change the whole world by myself or at once and operate within that framework. And I’m mostly okay with that now.

Strive toward being the pest person possible. It’s a CIP: continuous improvement process.

While having 5 minutes, think about what worked well and how you caused that. If something did bit work out, try finding out why and what you can change, take a bite, try it differently, reassess.

Traveling? Bring a list for packing. Important: at the end of the journey, make a note of the things you didn’t use so you avoid carrying more in the future. Cooking? Weigh out how much salt you use, think whether you like the taste, adjust, take note. Gardening? Take not which plants wen where and when. Take not then have a good long thought in two months to see if everything worked. Especially observe what worked suboptimally and try differently. And so on. Something something madness is doing the same thing over a d over again…

Want to be a person accredited to the creation of european federalization/unity, known for being a true statesmen. I come from poverty and i know i wont have it easy bc of boomer politicians and the political dynasties, but i wont be demoralized just because the odds are against me. Spite is hell of a motivator!

VOLT is small, and with nationalists, fascists and even nazis being ever more a present and threat to democracy and peace in europe ever since 1950, and conservatives flirting with them like its the 1920s/30s it seems we are still faar from it but have to first defend/regain our sovereignity and democracy. But the idea of european federalism is growing.

I guess I always thought of myself as someone who never gives up. It’s a blessing and a curse, I’ve achieved all my goals in life so far but I can be perceived as someone who is not very empathetic - because I tend to expect others to have the same attitude and don’t give them the support they need.

Hopefully on the whole people can understand things from my perspective - but I’m too self reliant to care what others think most of the time…
