Same. Sometimes I feel better with less hours myself.
You need consistent 8, not sporadic 10s and 12s.
When I do a 12hr sleep, I feel like my brain atrophied in my sleep, wake up and stay foggy all day.
one 3 hour block, one 6 hour block, if I’m lucky they’re together if I’m not I have to dedicate 12 hours to sleep. really depends on how much i wake up on the midnight shit. if i can stay asleep (and I have managed to stay asleep for well over a year and keep my (early telecommuting) job and shit. that was an interesting nap to wake up from) and i can, it really just depends how much garlic i et
Sleep debt is real. Take notes about how you feel. Get a good nights sleep for a week, and take notes again. You’ll see a difference. Self care isn’t like filling a gas tank or taking out the trash, you have to maintain consistency to see the benefits, and once you do, you will.
i counter that with a, ‘What do you mean get a good nights sleep for a week?
so we sleep in cycles, usually a one full sleep cycle is about 90min. it starts with light sleep, and goes into deep sleep, then back to light sleep, repeat. deeper sleep begins around ~30min in.
if you wake up from light sleep you’ll feel more refreshed
if you wake up in the middle of deep sleep, you’ll need to do all that body booting up when already awake, and it certainly doesn’t feel refreshing
(that’s why a 15min nap can breathe new life into you, but a 40min nap will leave you more tired)
it’s best to aim your sleeping schedule to include sleep in the increments of around 90min, proper night of sleep should have you go through 4-6 cycles (6h, 7,5h, or 9h).
the 90min is just an average though, listen to your body and see how things work for you. for me personally, around 7h or 7,5h works perfectly
I’ll sleep, when i’m dead
