Money is only part of Trump’s ability to influence. He also has the RNC chair. He can get anyone who doesn’t fall in line primaried. Vance doesn’t have these sorts of connections.

They should probably be hoping for Trump’s continued health. Though I have zero idea what JD would actually do if he was in office. He would definitely not be as chaotic, for good or ill.
