I just got banned for 7 days from Reddit for “threatening violence” for saying the Trump administration deserves the death penalty (which is an actual thing that exists legally in the US) and that the GOP should be dissolved.

A few days ago, an AskReddit thread led me to a group where men were promoting rape and violence against women. Reddit did not ban that.

    You tell me.

EDIT: Something funny from the message they sent me: “Reddit is a place for creating community and belonging, not for threatening violence against people or animals.” I wish they’d clarify whether it was people or animals that I threatened. It continues “Any communities or people that threaten violence towards an individual, group, animals, or place will be banned.” Not the one where a bunch of dudes were promoting rape, though.

Something similar happened to me like 2 - 3 days ago. I legit didn’t use it for over 2 years, and then a couple of months ago someone hacked the account and made it a porn thing. I didn’t want that associated to any email address that was mine, so I “re-claimed” the account, and removed all of the porn. I barely ever post on there, but I was drunk and said something along the lines of what you said in one of the leftish subreddits. I didn’t get banned, but I got a warning. Fuck that. Warn my nuts.

Funny, I saw a post on Reddit just yesterday from someone who got porn-hacked. Hackers are hornier than they used to be

Me, I wasn’t drunk. I was provoked. Pretty sure that legally I’m bulletproof given the circumstance (it was a reaction to far-right ragebait being on the White House website)

Depends, the average .world user is roughly equivalent to the average Reddit user. However I would say the average blahaj or db0 user is significantly further left.

Well since reddit pretends to be far right (and full of bots which is another topic but also renders reddit fake & useless), and most of us are here because Reddit was intolerant of our defiance to adhere to its right-wingedness, yeah I’d say fediverse is left. We’re free people who refuse to have our free-thinking & free speech squashed.

I actually don’t think so. Or at least not directly. Because I run into a veritable slew of Hardcore neoliberals as well. I think it’s less that there’s more leftists and it’s more that they’re not censored as much here. Sure the world mods will do their best, but they can always just create new accounts in different instances. They’re harder to shut down then they were on Reddit.

Course now that I say that I guess that just really means they are further left here because Reddit has moved so far to the right after expunging so many of the leftists. Potato potato.

You could very easily poke holes in the statements he made in that post. Discuss how easily a system like that could be used in a tyrannical context. Calling him a nazi does nothing but further radicalize the fella.

Okay, so feel free to start de-radicalizing them. Go ahead, be my guest, I will happily support you doing that just like I have in all the other threads where people attempt that. I’ll just patiently wait right here while you get on practicing what you preach.

Seriously though, if they don’t wanna be called a nazi, maybe they shouldn’t do stuff like advocate for the implementation of nazi policies. Sure the centrist line about ‘labeling everything you don’t like a nazi devalues the term’ probably has some degree of merit, but that’s not whats happening here. They’re just a regular old far-right authoritarian whackjob troll and pointing out the festering hatred that even lemmy, with it’s much less toxic community compared to reddit or twitter, still has lurking in the userbase is important.

Besides, there’s no way for them to be more radicalized. They’re already a transphobic pro-oligarchical eugenicist with a gun fetish that desperately LARPs as a rich white woman by posting stolen shots of prop money and expensive cars. How much worse could they actually be?

I can’t talk to them because all their comments were removed, not deleted by them, removed… This is also just a general thing for me not centered solely around this individual troll.

Think they are just a troll:

(Couldn’t link the comment for whatever reason:) "Russia has the strongest military in the world that has technology that can eviscerate all NATO members within 20 minutes.

Some of their strategic argument doesn’t even need nuclear capabilities.

Not saying they’re invulnerable against attack, but they would be able to devastate all of NATO with their attacks."

This sounds more like you’re painting over all of Lemmy with a hard-core leftist/?furry? brush. That’s not necessarily what I’ve seen, though I’ve only been here a month vs over a decade on reddit. I like guns and science but do still consider myself a liberal.
