Looking forward to the WTYP breakdown of what happened here, seems like a huge clusterfuck of events that had to line up for this

I hadn’t even heard about this quake. I think our attention may just be taken up with a few issues here, and I’m really glad the international community can take up the slack while we get our shit sorted out…
Unfortunately Costco is just as shitty as all the rest of the huge american corporations. They’re just better at PR than most of the others.
Better for knowing you’re alright, really.
… You doing okay?
Bad…?
Guys this was always a bad idea, but like right now especially this seems like a very bad choice to make. Christ knows we’re looking to make an example out of some more brown people…
Because when have internal italian politics ever had repercussions for the rest of Europe…
If your city’s infrastructure can’t support a conference of 50,000 people, why were you chosen to host said conference in the first place???
Landing a fridge on those spindly little legs did seem a bit… optimistic…
Oh, yeah, that really does not look real. Like on its own this seems unlikely since there’s been no talk about this until now, but wow that video just looks really, really fake.
Also it’s apparently only ~4ft/130cm tall, which would make this less impressive even if all the promo media released about it is real, which seems… unlikely.
I think you may have misunderstood - this is not advocating for or against inpatient mental health, this is just a dumb alternative term for having a day off to take care of yourself (largely because the classic “grippy sock vacation” is prohibitive in SO many ways, especially in the US)
It’s a bit like OSRS for reddit - an attempt to revive the reddit we all have very rose-tinted memories of. Unfortunately we seem to have forgotten about the the rampant casual misogyny, tribalism, moderator political infighting, that the 2007 XP rates were actually abysmally implemented and desperately needed retooling (and that deeply awkward “ron paul” phase reddit went through…)
no one would target me specifically for being a man
I think you’ve misunderstood. The commenter is not saying that random attacks don’t happen to men, that’s obviously true. But those attacks won’t target you specifically because you are male, which is an additional justification for violence that women have to deal with. I’d argue it’s even more common than women being targeted randomly - or even that random muggings/assaults are actually random. I mean, who’s jumping people that they think are a threat?
Unfortunately it’s very difficult to pull apart big data sets accurately
The actual fuck? It’s significantly easier to pull apart large data sets, especially to answer demographic questions like this. This is literally Data Science 101, you’re just making shit up!
My apologies, I really let that one get away from me. Thank you for being so understanding / moderating this community, I can’t imagine it’s particularly fun right now.

iirc this was just an engine that could run on most combustible hydrocarbons, a small gas turbine and some elaborate digestion setup I seem to remember, and the press really stretched a badly worded explanation of how it worked into ‘it eats corpses’. Which is fair, humans are mostly made from tasty biomass, but still.
edit: here’s a couple sources about it, it sounds like it does indeed run on vegetable biomass.
