I think Goliath was a “giant” in the same sense that an NBA player is a giant. Not like a mythical species in the Bible, just a genetic anomaly family that was crazy big and strong. Meanwhile, the average height was back then was much shorter than it is now.

So think of a fairly average but smallish guy beating up Shaq and I think that’s what we are supposed to envision.

My biggest reason for wanting separate bathrooms is the propensity for women to squat and spray the seat. I know guys can make a mess too but usually the women’s restroom is dirtier than men’s. Also women’s restroom is more likely to have a line.

But I’m sure building-wise it would be easier to just make one big bathroom so it should probably be that way, long as it’s big enough.

The Quest is really easy to use since you don’t need external sensors, but it’s underpowered and also from Facebook.

They could fix this very quickly with a government mandated one year off for both parents having a kid. Then with government subsidy for childcare/limits on childcare pricing.

I think a very large number of people would sign up for a paid year off, especially if they were confident the kids would not bankrupt them in the following years.

I’ve had this too but in music. I have no training or ability to write and can barely play easy piano music. But just on the edge of sleep, I feel like I can compose piano pieces that are beautiful and complex. The tune swirls in my head as I add a harmony to go with the melody.

Of course, having no way to write them down, even the tune is quickly lost. Maybe I dreamed the whole thing and it was just nonsense sounds. Who knows?

As a business? Probably not worth that valuation. As a propaganda machine to be able to influence a decent percentage of the population? I think it was.

Can you describe that? I feel like everyone says that about Canada, Europe, etc. But when I try to nail down what they are afraid of, they are like, “if I need a knee surgery I want it NOW! That could take months in Canada!”

Is it like that, or are there like actual life threatening problems being unaddressed?

Not enough bus stations in every city. I’m like 5 miles in Florida heat away from the nearest bus station. I am only 2 miles from the nearest grocery store, so I’m not exactly rural. Public transit here is a joke.

I have been getting surveys asking my opinion on ai as a healthcare practitioner (pharmacist). I feel like they are testing the waters.

AI is really dangerous for healthcare right now. I’m sure people are using it to ask regular questions they normally Google. I’m sure administrators are trying to see how they can use it to “take the pressure off” their employees (then fire some employees to “tighten the belt”).

If they can figure out how to fact check the AI results, maybe my opinion can change, but as long as AI can convincingly lie and not even know it’s lying, it’s a super dangerous tool.

Disagree. They said we could not possibly sustain the growth of human civilization due to how much food we could produce, but then we had the industrial revolution and we could make more food. That was not imaginable before, but it’s life now.

Of course, that leads to where we are. We now have to invent a way to use green energy to essentially make carbon dense something and put it back into the ground. It’s a monumental task, sure, but I have a feeling humanity could figure it out quickly if we would just TAKE THE DAMN ISSUE SERIOUSLY.

Yes. And I think soon. Student loan repayments will force people to make tough choices. I think people got into very large mortgages because they could afford it without the student loans, and likely expected rates to drop before the loans restarted.

Those people will probably have to move, possibly short selling the home (where the bank takes your home and sells it for what it can get, clearing your debt in the process even if it’s less than your mortgage).

This kind of stuff happened in 2008, and I just saw a graph showing housing slightly less affordable now than then.

I think those predatory rates are private lenders, but those are still given the same protections to make you pay no matter what as far as I am aware.

If it’s very effective for this strain, it might be like 90% effective at not getting it. But there are more strains that will have less effect. As others are saying, symptoms should be more mild if you do get it.

Make sure you take time to rest. I had a mild case last December and went back to work in the like 5 days they say. I ended up with long covid and I’m still not all the way better. Not resting is a big risk factor for long covid.

This is what I do. I canceled Netflix and got a special for a year of HBO for less than $100 if I recall correctly. So this year I have house of dragon, gilded age, Dr who, sopranos, and many random movies. It will take me a year to get through it.

But I want to watch Star Trek. So next year I will give up my current selection and become a Trekkie with paramount+. Maybe the following year I will want star wars and grab Disney+.

Really you don’t need ALL the shows ALL the time. In fact, forced variation can be nice for discovering shows you hadn’t considered when you run out of the one you were watching.

We need different terms for people who HAVE a million dollars and people who MAKE a million per year. Lots of people will read this millionaire’s tax and think it will apply to them when they are nearing retirement since they finally have a million dollars after saving all their life.

All vaccines or just the new mRNA ones? I feel like it would be easy to mistrust them at first because of the rapidity they came to market (if iring previous mRNA research), and maybe the media played on that.

If it’s all vaccines that’s just absolutely retarded for a doctor to fall victim to. Who wants polio back? He should have had extensive training on the older vaccines.

I don’t know if they can really be safe at the beach though. You go in the water with your gun, or you leave it under your towel and hope a kid doesn’t find it?
