“Stephen Miller, on behalf of Star Trek, and everyone who knew and loved him, keep my Captain’s name out of your f–king Nazi mouth,” he wrote. “He despised you, and everything you stand for.”

It’s the military structure he likes. Everyone wears a uniform, everyone puts the uniform before themselves. It’s all yes sir, no sir, Klingons decloaking off starboard sir. There is a clear structure of authority and everyone follows it without question. That is the part of Star Trek Stephen Miller likes. He’s so blinded by the set and setting that he doesn’t see the message at all. As far as he’s concerned it’s a space show about subordinates following their Capitan. Nothing more.

It’s funny, I heard an interview once where Gene said he was writing morality plays, and hiding them behind weird alien make up so people wouldn’t notice. I always wondered how anyone could possibly not notice until I read Hatemonger.

He rooted for the authoritarians in Insurrection and Into Darkness and other similar lines I bet.

The ancient Greeks had a good idea with Ostracism.

No need for a trial, or even an accusation of a crime. Just the population saying “this person is shitty and shouldn’t be in the city/country” and they were kicked out for 10 years.

In some ways, their democratic system made a lot more sense than ours, TBH. They didn’t elect people to positions, because they thought that would lead to popularity contests dominated by the wealthy (🤔). Positions of power were assigned randomly by sortition (lots) amongst all the male Athenian citizens, they only voted on policy.

Yeah, that makes much more sense.

Especially because it was random, so in a room with 100 people, you’re very unlikely to have a member of the 0.1%, so it’s easy to decide that tax policy should be to tax the ultra-rich.

PBS did a special a while back where they actually rebuilt the machine used for selecting people. It was a lot like a modern dice tower where you’d pour things in the top and the machine would randomize it. But, instead of using dice, they used black and white balls, and one colour meant people were selected for the position, and the other one meant they didn’t get selected.

That’s what Canada is doing to the USA in response to their president threatening our sovereignty (and his supporters/enablers - including Miller - repeating those threats).

Good. More. Bring public shaming back until these cretins scurry back under their rocks.

This one pisses me off. A lot.

That miller guy is scum and wants people to suffer, must have been abused and high ACE scores, so he wants revenge and to hurt others, to punch down as the gop, supernatural, military, and other controlling and dualistic groups work and indoctrinate. Trauma bonding is so damaging and unhealthy, yet it’s treated as good and normal. Signs of a sick society that needs the truth. They let the ego and pain body control them and the result is senseless suffering. Many abused do not behave this way so there is hope.

Wil Wheaton is the man. He should be on Lemmy. He was on Reddit, and we’d love him even more here.
