Okay but is no one going to ask where the fuck the second image is from??
For the first 18ish years, I couldn’t seem to sleep enough. The next 30 years, 4 was about all I needed to function well. Now, in my mid-50’s, I’m getting about 5-6 a night, with a rare 8-hour session here and there, and I feel great. Guess I’ll die?

i am a tummy sleeper and have multiple holes in my tummy that make it impossible to sleep on my tummy. i have not entered REM sleep in 22 years, 7 months, 22 days and i’m not even counting i just know.
Brain development in the first 18 yrs require more sleep. Let your teenager sleep more!
Which is one of the reasons why the super early start time for high school never made sense to me. I used to sleep through my first couple of periods.
Ah yes, but you see, if teenagers don’t start school early, then how are they going to get out of school early enough to go to their minimum wage jobs after work? Think of the poor corporations!
(Yes, this is the real reason in the US. I believe it was also so teens could work on farms after school back when that was common. Also now some families that are struggling to make ends meet rely on the extra income from their teenagers’ part-time jobs, which is a special extra level of dystopia.)
48 here, I can exist on 6 hours but the results aren’t pretty. 8 is just right for me.
An extra 3 hours a day with no downsides would be lovely!
Quit showing off Jackson!
After 10 hours of sleep, thanks to melatonin:

Last week I accidentally put my melatonin in the “8am” slot of my pill divider for each day, thought I was dying or something with how incredibly tired I was while still not being able to sleep at night.
I feel bad for laughing at this comment, but I can just imagine how disorienting that must have been lol
