They are just as guilty of these current administrations actions because they themselves refuse to limit the powers and reach of branches of the government, they only ever extend them… And they did it because they had plans for that power, but you don’t need to believe that, the evidence they allowed the power to exist is elected and likely xitting on truth right now, that’s all you really need to believe, Democrats enabled this.
