Plus just libeling and slandering them. I’m beyond sick of his bullshit like calling prosecutors doing their jobs ‘DERANGED’. Trump is a believer in ‘repeat things enough times and they become true’. With his stupid nicknames and labels, we hear them so often that it comes to mind for me when I think of the person, even though I think whatever he said was incredibly stupid. The problem is the media dutifully amplifies his message… “Trump calls Jack Smith deranged! Deranged Jack Smith!”

I’m not really sure what the person in the article means. It says something about “lockdown-era students can’t hold down a heated discussion”… but why would they be having heated discussions? It also says

which makes it sound like it’s older people who bring up inappropriate political topics in an inflammatory way.

The problem is that the things they “disagree” about are sometimes basic scientific facts, like climate change, or beliefs which strongly affect people’s lives negatively, such as racism, anti-lgbt bigotry, or economic views like “it’s just fine to pay people such low wages they can barely afford to live and will never be able to buy a house”.

It is meme lingo I somehow haven’t heard about yet? I kinda like it. It’s also confusing though

Republicans oppose legal immigration, otherwise the undocumented workers could easily become citizens or at least be here on long visas. As noted, it’s because they like having an abused subclass that won’t speak up lest they be threatened with deportation.

I think this is what conservatives call “virtue signaling”.

Perhaps not specifically fentanyl, but I’d think that noticing whether people are using and selling illicit drugs would be something they’d try to be aware of.

H1-B isn’t relevant to people working jobs like picking crops, who far outnumber tech workers.

I don’t mean highly skilled work. Approximately 10 million undocumented immigrants work low paying jobs and are deprived of any sort of benefits or protection under law such as minimum wage, overtime, health benefits, OSHA protections, unemployment and workers compensation for injuries. Oddly they tend to work for businesses owned by conservatives such as meatpacking, agriculture, roofing, and construction. These businesses are well aware that they are hiring people who do not have legal authorization to work in the US. At the same time, they support politicians who demonize immigrants and have made absolutely no effort to legitimize the legal status of their workforce. Huh, I wonder why.

The US is in for something similar in about 40 years now that the “job creators” have made it entirely unaffordable to live, let alone raise children, while also opposing legal immigration.

I doubt that people suffering from MS, T1, Crohn’s, Celiac etc would be discouraged by the term. It’s not a prophylactic vaccine intended for the general population.

It’s funny they call them hippos considering that hippos are extremely dangerous and vicious wild animals.

I had an account since 2009 and mainly used it to post really ridiculous phrases that I found funny, like ‘turnip thieves’ or ‘nursing burqa’. I tried posting various other things like programming related stuff, or pics and observations from my travels, and got absolutely zero engagement. But then in 2020 I was suddenly homeless in downtown portland after a breakup RIGHT when the Floyd protests started (I was driving right by the Federal center and the Elk statue like “huh, why are there are these cop cars and what are these people doing standing in the street?” and I needed up-to-date info about wtf was going on. Twitter was the best place to find that. Reddit was hours behind, fuck facebook, and local news is like a day behind, but local reporters were posting to-the-minute updates on twitter.

Then I started using it to follow some communities I’m into, like niche games and certain autoimmune diseases, and I liked the feel of personality people had. I felt like I got to know the personality of people who posted way more than on reddit, without the bullshit of facebook or whatever. I got sick of the horror of political slimebags by growing a block list of 8,000 accounts. But then: Elron. When Elron came it became clear that he was a massive douchebag and was going to destroy the site. I didn’t wait around to watch: I downloaded my archive and just deleted my account.

Twitter was sort of like a code-golf game when it was 140. Annoying, but it was their gimmick… it also made sense when theoretically people posted by SMS. 280 was freer but then it becomes more like any other social media… and people would just post as threads anyway, which was pretty much like a reddit or facebook post with the most confusing interface ever, and the ability to reply to or ‘like’ sentences individually, which is interesting but not super useful.

Sleeping is a decent one

Once it became clear they Elron was going to smash the place into a cesspool of douchery, the decision was simple.

Time of day is a matter of cultural tradition and coordination with other people. For me it’s always been a relative matter to when I woke up. Got up at 8 am? I expect to go to sleep 12-1 am. Get up at 3 am? Normal to go to sleep at 6 pm. Get up at 4 pm? Totally normal to be cleaning tea strainers with a dremel at 3 am.

That’s great! I hope so. If it’s not in a trust, even without being judgement-proof it can be difficult to get people to pay anything, like you have to pay people to physically seize their property or file additional lawsuits.
