Not actually recent, but a while back I learned that what we call the “bottom” of the banana is actually the top, flowering end. Turns out it’s way easier to open a banana at the flowering/non-stem end. So many years I’d been opening them at the other end, trying to snap off the stem part, mushing up that end of the banana most of the time.
I tried this out a while back and tbh it’s hard to open on the non stem side for me. I will continue to use the stem side as it provides more leverage.
i just give it a little squeeze and it splits in two and it’s the easiest thing to pull apart, way easier than trying to get the stem part to separate unless you have a knife and cut it first…
Neither way is wrong. I will often give the stem end a quick test and if it breaks and starts the peel, I peel from that end. If it doesn’t, I start at the other end. Both work just fine.
I think both are easy. Gripping the stem and putting a nail into it pierces the skin then instead of squashing the banana you pull on the skin until it comes apart. It needs just a tiny bit more force, no squashing and when finishing pinching the bottom pops out the last piece.

Easier way, grab in the middle and forcefully snap it in half, works even on very ripe bananas
Lol, that is often the reaction I get when people see me do it.
Easy for sharing

Your bananas are not ripe enough.

Both completely valid.
