I’m willing to believe it actually happened, but that Stanley Kubrick made what everyone watched on TV. I think they filmed it in case the astronauts died, and just ended up using it instead.
Stanley Kubrick was hired by NASA to fake the moon landing, however, he was such a perfectionist that he insisted on shooting the exterior scenes on location, so they had to go to the moon anyway.
If my KSP rockets are anything to go by, “staging” is when you hit the spacebar and everything goes off at once because you forgot to put things in separate stages.
