I don’t get this part
Nuuk concluded that ordering the containers removed “would not be proportionate,” leaving the government to choose between licensing drilling in an area that may fall under wetlands protection or refusing and risking handing Trump an opening to press his claim harder.
Why would it not be proportionate, given that they lied about having a license?
Gee it would be awful if someone blew that shit up
Time to send in the police, confiscate the equipment, and take the workers away for questioning.
All the Europeans that keep telling us to “do something” about Trump wanna show us how it’s done?
Greenland is self governing when it comes to internal matters. Unless Trump sends in actual soldiers there’s not much that Denmark can do without violating Greenland’s self governance. Greenland just needs to send the police and stop them.
The funniest thing they can do is just be boring about. Fine the company then seize their equipment if they refuse to pay.
Pretty much every EU member is “self-governing”. And unless I misread and that’s a Greenland-based company this is an international matter.
It’s a Texas company named “Greenland Energy”.
The Guardian article that was the source had better coverage of what’s happening
Can’t they just ask Denmark to do it then?
All the Americans that kept telling us about their glorious 2nd amendment wanna show us how to deal with it?
Like 4 people have tried to shoot Trump at this point.
Those are the ones who vote for Trump tho
That site really needs to clean their posted URLs. Also linkify them…
Do they not have some police or somebody who could go tell them “No” about that?
‘when your rich they let you do it’
Great, so Canada is next I guess.
There will be bloodshed if that is the case.
Probably start with New Brunswick, Nova Scotia.
Hello, EU, you there?
Greenland is not part of the EU.
I read the article. No where does it say any drilling is starting. This is a sensationalized headline.
Did you read the article?
Greenland Energy, a Texas-based company established just last year, is pressing ahead with the drilling plans regardless, with a company representative saying a vessel loaded with 300 shipping containers of drilling gear is due to leave Canada on 12 September, and drilling set to start in October.
to begin drilling
