It’s the latter. They started that ball rolling themselves post-Nixon by specifically and intentionally pandering to the stupidest voter segment. Now that’s amplified to the point the whole party is comprised of useless idiots a few of which happily use the others to further selfish goals. The Democrat party is not far behind either.
