It’s so great to be at the end of human cooperation and civilization. I’m so excited for when antibiotics stop working because of factory farming. /s

      Stop spreading panic.

While NWS can infect humans—and those cases are grisly—it is relatively rare.

The US has halted imports of cattle, bison, and horses from Mexico to try to keep the parasite out. Officials have also set up nearly 8,000 traps across Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico. Among 13,000 screening samples, so far, none have turned up NWS.

Maybe he meant end of cooperation because in times past, we would have unified against this threat and kept it at bay, but now we’re all fucked and everything is on fire so nobody has time to deal with the situation?

You do realize the “/s” denotes they are being sarcastic.

It’s only sarcasm because he said, “It’s so great to”. This means OP believes the other portion of the comment, but doesn’t actually believe it’s great.

It’s a doomer karma farming comment with no substance.

No more than you putting words in ops mouth to fit your hateful agenda. 🤷‍♂️

What are you talking about? What’s my agenda? Why am I hateful?

OP said it was the end of civilization. That’s a little glib.

Federal Fish and wildlife are killing off endangered wolves in new mexico to protect cattle. Sincerely as a person who appreciates the planet we live on I hope cattle ranchers have the life they voted for!

Look for draining or enlarging wounds, as well as signs of discomfort. Also look for screwworm larvae (maggots) and eggs in or around body openings, such as the nose, ears, and genitalia, or the navel of newborn animals.

While NWS can infect humans—and those cases are grisly—it is relatively rare.

You probably don’t have anything to fear, I think 12 people got it in the '72 outbreak, but it can be brutal for livestock.

I would not underestimate this particular threat. Under a more competent administration I would at least worry slightly less. But the levels of incompetence in positions of power have me genuinely worried. This is a real threat that we have carefully managed since the Nixon administration (IIRC). If it makes its way here it will wreak havoc on livestock.
