As others have said, definitely affection. Your cat loves you and is hanging out with you!

Easiest way to show it back, is to blink slowly back at your cat. Shows trust back to them!

When my cat does this, he’s trying to get my attention. If I stand up, he will lead me where he wants me to be. Usually, he takes me to his food bowl, or to the special spot we have for brushes and pats. Sometimes though, he wants me to look outside, because his nemesis, the white cat from up the road, is visible, and sometimes he wants me to open the door for his pal, the black cat from across the road. There can be quite some depth to cat communication, but as with humans, it starts with paying attention. Your cat is a cutie.

I mean if they’re slow blinking while staring it means they like you. But some cats just like staring at things for no particular reason.

I hope so, cause he does this stuff a lot. He likes to sit in the coffee table while we’re watching tv and just stare at us.

Cat sizing you up: human is bigger than a mouse, but much slower. I can take him down, but who’s gonna clean the litterbox…

    Follow them and find out.

You’re not gonna discover what your particular cat wants from you in this particular moment by consulting the internet, you’re gonna find out by listening and communicating back with them.

He literally hates being held by humans. He will stare at me for 20 minutes straight, but god forgot I try to hug him.

Trying to understand what makes you think that is cool. Is there some meaning you can interpret? It doesn’t make much sense to me in the same context as the usual phrase ‘god forbid’. Or am I missing something?

Not trying to be judgmental, just genuinely curious. I wanna think it’s cool, too, lol

Oh gosh, I just think regional variation in language is really cool, and while I’ve heard ‘God forbid’ a lot in my life, I’ve never heard the phrase OP used. Turns out it was auto-correct, which I half-suspected, but I would have loved to have known where that had come from. If you’re interested in this kind of thing, I highly recommend the talk show “A Way with Words.” The hosts get really nerdily excited about just these kinds of phrases, so given that I listened to that program regularly, I’m kind of on the lookout.

Is this also because I’m an atheist living in the South? Possibly. ‘God forgot’ shows some lack of divine omnipotence, which I find kind of exciting.

He will next bring the cat teaser stick and drop it in front of you if you continue to sit there.
