The key to every “killer app” on a new system, even ones that start out mimicking the old paradigm, is enabling something that couldn’t be done on the old system.
This makes me think of my biggest gripe with the social media I use and it’s the lack of feeling safe, and I don’t mean that I want to be sheltered or have content hidden from me. I’m tired of living in the giant melting pot.
I feel like lemmy is in a decent place right now. The main page is busy enough with a good amount of OC and alright discussion. It’s a lot to ask for 1000+ active niche communities. I have a few things that bug me and I’m not sure ballooning members would fix it: reddit-like anti-social behaviour, excessive reposts, and posts about MAGA people. I’ve blocked a lot of communities, some users, and very few nsfw instances.
Links to youtube in general kind of suck. I want to be on lemmy.
The economy is in a weird spot where data looks alright (employment and gdp) but the covid economy hit everyone including your friendly neighborhood corporation. Ads are a simple and reliable way to turn up profits in a soft economy and declining global situation and inflation. Since companies have effectively stolen wages for so many years they can’t cope with modest wage spike on their bottom line or really any disruption anywhere in their business they use ads to print money. Maybe as time goes on business will benefit from slowing wage growth and increasing automation we will see ad growth scale back. Regulation would be nice but what are you going to do?

Dennis Villeneuve is currently untouchable in the same way that Christoper Nolan was a few years ago. For whatever reason I meshed with Nolan’s work at the time but I have been completely disenchanted by Villeneuve since Blade Runner.
I found that our cat seemed more calm or at ease after she was spayed. I’m not a cat psychologist. From what I observed it seemed better for the cat to be spayed. She had also shown signs of the frisky behaviour. I’d be curious to know from people who didn’t spay their cats if that behaviour mellowed out, and how quickly.
I turned off my cellular. I’d suggest trying that first before jumping into another piece of tech.
Do those really work though or do they take the edge off feeling absolute despair all the time?

Not every one, and some brands specifically sell thicker cotton.
If I buy a shirt and it disintegrates in a year I’ll never buy from that company again.
I think that until we get regulation it’s better to avoid generating new tokens and asking people to buy into projects. There is an ungodly amount of scamming and financial nonsense right now and small cap tokens would get wrecked over and over and people would lose money. Even DAOs are too young to be used here.
Also people hate cryptocurrency, as you can tell and I wouldn’t taint the fediverse with potential a potential cryptocurrency scam. Nope. I think at best you could host an instance and accept donations from large/reputable tokens.
I wonder if the reason I see duplicate memes on All is because a lot of people have blocked lemmy.ml and other large instances
Weed helps me too and I stocked up on weed and beer last time, but the nausea/stomach cramps were so bad there was no way I was consuming anything. Fault in my plan…
Having an appropriate playlist (drums/relaxing) and a sleep mask is very helpful.
You seem unnecessarily hostile about this. If you don’t like LLM just move on.
This is exactly why this sub about technology is better off without business news. You’re just reacting to something you hate and directing that at others.
Another good resource to help people find models https://llm.extractum.io
I’m happy to pay for LLM but not at the prices OpenAI is charging for their models.
Ethnic enclaves - tons of these in Canada.
Id expect more voting and less comments in political posts just because people may want to avoid direct conflict with other users. I’m iffy on the whole up/down thing in general though.
