We’re talking USB-C to USB-C right?
Do you have links for some of the ones you looked at? Because I checked a few Anker and Apple cables and they were all USB 2.0.
It does seem to be easier to get USB 3 Type A to type C cables, but not C to C.

It does feel kind of spiteful. But honestly, it is surprisingly difficult to find USB 3 USB-C cables anyway. Most of them are USB 2 unless you spring for Thunderbolt cables.
One thing this article doesn’t get into is whether it is an issue of customer demand or incorrect estimates on how many customers Starlink can handle.
Musk is a dumbass, unserious douche. But from everyone I’ve heard from who has Starlink and NEEDS it, it’s a godsend. For rural and mobile users (van life, RVs, boats, etc) I don’t think there is a better option.
Another question is whether this Starlink service should be nationalized or at least duplicated by other countries. I’m uncomfortable with it being used for war as it is honestly. It’s a supposed civilian, consumer aimed service that I think arguably can be considered a military target right now. Countries like Russia could make an argument for attacking these satellites. And for countries like Ukraine that are relying on it, having it being at the whims of someone like Musk also seems like it isn’t optimal.
It literally feels like a blast from the past. I remember being on forums in the 90s and early 2000s hearing all this Linux evangelism. Then I say “the second a user has to touch a command line, they’re out” and everyone acts like this isn’t a reasonable take.
Thankfully though, Linux has evolved and ChromeOS and Android have shown how lower needs users and limited platforms like mobile can use Linux and not have to deal with the complexity of old-school Linux.
I disagree. YT is the biggest video collection that has probably ever existed. There is something there for everyone.
But if you don’t find anything useful or entertaining on there, fair enough.
I mean, unironically yes. If you fly enough to where economy leg room is a problem, you should be upgrading.
This is the second time in the last few years I think. They’re starting to turn the screw.
I definitely recommend people check out Youtube Premium if you hate ads and use YT a lot on smart TVs and mobile where ad-blocking is more difficult.
The majority of my video watching time is YT and I primarily do it on my phone or TV, so it is worth it for me. I wish I could cut out YT Music and save some money while using a music streaming service I prefer though.
I like Premium, but hate YT Music. I’d rather use another music platform, but YT prices the subscription perfectly so it just doesn’t make sense to use anything else.
But considering my watch time I’d say YT is probably my most used subscription.
I’ve heard about this life hack for years, but I don’t want to risk my primary Google account since my mail is attached. I have to create an acct strictly for YT and try that.
I remember hearing from LTT (whose name is now in the mud) that YT Premium views do pay significantly more. It’s just that there aren’t many YT Premium subscribers compared to non-paying users.
It is mind boggling to me that in the year 2023 we’re complaining about porn, LGBT existence, and fucking book content. Isn’t this what we were laughing at 20 years ago? About book burnings and how stupid the previous generations were for fearing and banning media that challenged them?
IDK exactly what the “world” can do here. The Taliban is the legit government of Afghanistan now (well, maybe legit should be in quotes). Do people want another war to take out the Taliban? That didn’t go so well the first time. And there are already sanctions on the Taliban’s government but other countries are still willing to trade with them.
I don’t see any international fix working here. There needs to be internal change. Whether that’s reform, coup, or whatever.
I assume just for verified users? A good way to weed out bots, and only suckers, grifters and sex workers with no better options are verified anymore anyway. So limited harm.
I’m sure it does for people who aren’t motivated.
But those same people don’t work in office either, they just walk around and bullshit all day.
I am way more productive at home than I am in office. Partly purposefully out of spite, and partly because my home work space is better in every way than my office environment. Quieter, more comfortable, better equipment, better internet, even better resilience because of my UPSes.
Can you explain more, because the way this is written I’m not sure how they would do that technically.
Assuming this is Google, I could maybe see it with things like Gmail. Text is easy to scan and ads in things like Youtube videos are dynamic so they could be doing that. Same with something like Microsoft and Outlook.com.
But listening to actual conversations (as in phone calls) at a large scale and then using that to put dynamic ads in videos or search results seems impossible to do at scale.
Yeah, I definitely was. I think that gave them PTSD or something because they haven’t even tried to make moderate changes to NTFS since. And besides ReFS which I hadn’t heard about until this thread, they haven’t even done something as minor as give you an option to use different file systems like ext4.
It is weird to me that Microsoft hasn’t updated the file system in so long. They were going to with Longhorn/VIsta but that failed and it seems like they’ve been gunshy ever since.
Is Cosby redeemed because a judge through out his conviction?
This asks a question that I think is valid, but is fraught with emotion and history. Should it not mean that Cosby is redeemed if the charges are thrown out? It is extremely difficult to prove cases from decades ago, but does that mean that someone should face social consequences for charges that haven’t been proven in a court of law? Statistics say that most sexual assaults go unreported. Which is why there is a good and understandable push to believe people who report. But experiencing consequences based only on those reports also doesn’t seem to be the best.
Rich is an interesting way to put it. Bailing out the rich are tax cuts aimed overwhelmingly at the rich, not taxing capital gains and other ways the rich try to hide their true income and not auditing the rich because it is too much effort.
