While the American Left has been shifting right for the past few decades, were you even around during W. Bush’s presidency? Progressives today want exactly what W. Bush campaigned against - proper climate policies and social / welfare safety nets.

I currently have femoroacetabular impingements, a torn labrum in my left hip, back spasms, and nerve damage throughout my left leg. For my work, I have to pay bills and rent while medical-leave pay only covers 70% of my income. I can barely save enough as it is, so I keep working.

I’ve already had one surgery with two more expected, the final one ideally being a new hip. I’ll use my personal time for recovery and stretch it out with medical leave as needed, but I can’t afford to stop right now. Eventually I want to buy a house and marry my girlfriend.

I tried to rewatch the show for the first time last month since the show ended. I told myself that it couldn’t have been so bad after it began to increasingly deviate from the books, that I was just upset about it at the time.

Nope. I barely made it through S5 and while S6 had its moments, I realized I was only watching for a couple great moments instead of for the sake of watching it. I just wasn’t enjoying it, so I stopped. In earlier seasons, epic moments like these were everywhere. It’s no wonder the show alone built such a large fanbase early on

Do you live to argue? Did you even read what I wrote, or do you only cherry pick? You’re resorting to whataboutism. And for the record no, because Russia is a full-blown oligarchy that holds farce “presidential” elections. The fact Trump, the leader at the time, lost shows we’re doing better than Russia is.

We both support progressive candidates and ideologies. I hate Biden, but I live in a state where I’ll have to vote for him. But since you don’t want to have an actual conversation, we’re done here. Talk like this is why Republicans are doing so well despite over half of the US hating their guts.

Alright, you’re just arguing for the sake of it at this point and putting words in my mouth lol. While we’re technically in a capitalistic oligarchy, we do have some democratic processes at play. I don’t like it, and you don’t either. Which is weird because you’re seemingly arguing against the only candidate that is actively trying to maintain that semblance of democracy. Trump has actively tried to undermine this semblance of democracy in each of the recent elections, even in the election he won.

Let’s circle back for you. Biden is the lesser evil of the two. When these are your only realistic choices in our current system, there’s only one that’s obvious. Campaign for structural reform and for politicians that want to reform and improve the system we have.

You’re talking about primaries and I’m talking about presidential generals. I voted Bernie each time in the primaries because I think the DNC establishment is too far right. I personally think Bernie isn’t progressive enough, but this is the US.

We’re literally in agreement on this part, and I said Biden was morally dubious. Guy’s a terrible person and a horrible politician, don’t get me wrong. But I’ll take Biden over Trump any day, because at least Biden has never incited an insurrection

One evil respects democracy and at least wants to better the lives of most the people in the country. Morally dubious, but has helped more people than harmed.

The other respects only himself and wants to better the life of only himself while using anyone and anything he can to achieve that - remember the time he claimed the election was stolen before it was even concluded? The guy literally has a psychologist in his family who detailed how awful he really is, and was before he became president.

And then there’s RFK Jr. who had a worm starve to death inside his brain. He isn’t necessarily evil, just horribly stupid

And that’s okay! There are plenty of ways to use climate-friendly means of transportation if your area has the infrastructure for it. If it doesn’t, buying/utilizing used cars with good gas mileage and adjusting how much you drive, supporting climate-friendly legislation, and raising awareness are the best things you can do until biking/walking/etc. is more accessible for you - or until you can move to a high-density area with those options, if that’s the goal.

Electric cars are a great step forward, but currently lack the efficiency and affordability of ICE vehicles. Plus, they ultimately serve as a means to maintain the stability of the Auto industry in an increasingly environmentally-conscious society.

Edit: Since people seem to think I’m saying abating climate change causes fewer children, I’m not. Communication is not my strongpoint - but I have a B.B.A in Econ with an emphasis in Sustainable Supply Chains, and a Master’s in Quantitative Finance, so let me rephrase this. Countries that implement more policies to fight climate change are typically populated by people who care and are educated about climate change, who are also less likely to have more children due to the current path humanity is on.

Something vaguely related to this topic is the fact that countries with more laws designed to abate climate changing effects are also experiencing a slowdown in the rate with which they have children. Whereas many countries with relatively high birthrates generally do not have very strict climate standards. Overall levels of general education also play into this.

Tldr; Generally, the more people know about climate change, the less likely they are to have children.
