Because Outside is multiplayer only. Still waiting on the update for solo play.
We call that marooned mode, you need the Southern Pacific Expansion and probably the Boating DLC.
I don’t have the stats to survive a conversation let alone outside.

Cause when I enter random people’s houses I get shot and imprisoned and charged with trespassing.
I don’t like roguelikes and outside is some ironman shit without checkpoints!
The pay to win mechanics of going outside are bullshit, the pvp balance is fucked, and the exhaustion mechanics are a nightmare.
Because I have shit knees.

Outside burns and stinks all the time!
Outside isn’t a post-nuclear Hellscape. Yet.
Because they aren’t open enough… and leveling up is super hard sometimes.
The whole progression is fucked. As you get close to the end game your character gets WEAKER, not stronger.
Because when I shoot people with my crossbow, the cops chase me.
And there’s no dragons or snowbears.
Because I like open world games. Not life.
For the same reason that most video games don’t have you playing as the random NPC who has one line about how great the festival is and another line about how awful it is that the monsters destroyed the festival and doesn’t do anything else for the rest of the game.

I filed a bug about the crappy tutorial for new players…got closed as “will not fix,” so I uninstalled. ;-P
