I’m constantly amazed how many foreigners are aware of what’s going on in US politics and even details about how our government works.
It shows how much our shitty politics affect the world. I’m sorry.
It highlights how bad Americans are at paying attention and doing their homework because most Americans have no fucking clue what’s going on or how their own government works.
To be fair, I’m barely aware of what’s going on in other nation’s politics, but that’s largely because I’m hyper aware of what’s going on in U.S. politics and, unfortunately, that takes up a lot of my time and patience and sanity.
That’s by design. It’s the same reason you aren’t required to take Statistics in high school. If people knew the actual odds of winning the lottery they wouldn’t play. Since the poorest Americans and typically only high school graduates play the lottery religiously it make sense.
I don’t think it’s just not knowing their rights and such. It also needs to get worse before it gets better. Ever maybe change in government across history wasn’t done with protests or signing petitions. It was done with a physical revolution. Until we got that point it will be the same shit.
Right?
