When I had a kitty that slept on me, if I wanted to turn over, I would put my arms under the blanket and lift her up in a sort of makeshift cat-hammock and turn my body underneath, then set her back down. She didn’t mind it. But if I moved in a way that she wasn’t sure was intentional, she would firmly tap the body part in question with her paw, three times. I miss that girl so much.

Mine lays on me in such a way that I have to audition for Cirque du Soleil so I can turn over, after which she promptly tells me I have “done a bad” and gets in my face to demand pets as recompense before going back to laying on me in the most space-consuming manner possible.

Forget manspreading. Catspreading is far more spatially offensive.

A cat I had growing up loved to attack the ‘bed mice’ (People’s toes) and one day he did that to my dad, who wasn’t warned.

Cat got fucking yeeted halfway down the hall when dad launched him half asleep.

Cat tried to come back for more cause he was an idiot.

      They closed the door.

One of ours sometimes does that. He often sleeps on my feet at night, and usually I can move some without getting attacked, but sometimes he does claw me.

Cut their claws, I taught my adult cat that me touching his paws is okay and that sometimes he gets a trim. We can now “spar” all the time because he just doesn’t have sharp points to claw me with. He can make biscuits on me all he wants, jump on me, off me etc.

Some other cats: glares at you in the dark, slowly gets up and walks over to you, baps you right in your stupid face, goes back to warm spot and falls asleep, leaving you wondering where the fuck you went wrong.

I have one like this but another who puts up with a lot. If I pet her or put a hand on her before I turn in bed, she’s fine with it. I think it’s because she then knows that I’m aware of her. I’ve also accidentally kicked her (not hard) a few times while tossing and turning and she didn’t care. But heaven forbid I sneeze or even inhale like I’m about to.

My cat doesn’t tolerate sodas being opened next to him, sneezes and coughs. For some reason it’s completely unacceptable even if I turn away from him while doing it.

I’ve hissed at him enough times that he knows how I hiss. Usually he scrambles and removes himself from the situation pretty quickly. The soda thing, coughs etc is more like “ugh fuck this” slowly getting up, look of disdain and moving somewhere else. Note that “somewhere else” is often a change from “in front of the keyboard” to “onto the chair that’s next to me”. I’d wager that it is more about the sparkly bit / bubbles making noise, than the hiss of the can.

When we were kids, my sister had this grumpy-as-fuck female calico. Whenever sis fell asleep on the couch, Heidi would curl up on top of sister’s head. Looked like a calico-colored chapka.

My little one will follow me to bed and curl up on my chest to sleep. If I move she stomps off in a huff but only to the edge of the bed in order to keep watch and fight off any of the others that may want to jump up and cuddle. With friends like these…
