It really hasn’t been established. The courts have ruled against him repeatedly, and most of the time trump gives in just like all of the masterful negotiations he is part of.
The things trump gets away with are the result of poorly written laws that were intentionally left vague so that the people who wrote them could someday take advantage of the vagueness themselves. That said. How many trump associates from his first term ended up in jail or having major monetary settlements against them. There always seems to be more people willing to roll the dice for trump. That is something I wish we could better understand so that we could counter it.I agree, but you have to understand the courage it will take to do it. The first judge who does so could end up dead, and maybe their family too. Threats against judges have been dramatically increasing(archive.ph link). Every one of them has to be thinking, if I hit any of these thugs with a contempt charge, my family could be killed. Would you do it? I don’t know if I could unless I knew my family were in hiding or surrounded by armed security.

The threats targeted 277 judges, some of whom were threatened more than once, compared with 379 judges threatened in all of 2024.
The Marshals Service is also reviewing more than 100 anonymous, unsolicited pizza deliveries to judges and their families in at least seven states and the District of Columbia in recent months — incidents that the judges and investigators see as ominous messages to the recipients that the sender knows who they are and where they live.
Some of the deliveries went to judges handling lawsuits against the Trump administration, The Post has reported. At least 20 deliveries have been made in the name of Salas’s son, Daniel Anderl, who was fatally shot at the family’s home in 2020 by a disgruntled lawyer posing as a delivery person.
Needs to be on state charges though or he’ll just issue a federal pardon
This is the problem with law enforcement they’re all chickenshit fucking cowards. And as long as they’re scared, any action they take is legal.
I’m so tired of hearing the same old excuse “I only used my firearm because I believed my life was in danger” well that’s a nice story, but the suspect was holding his cell phone, not a gun. It sounds like what you should have done was grow a pair and keep your cool. If you were still too scared, you should have left, or called for backup, or fucking resign. Killing someone when you’re scared isn’t acceptable behavior, it’s murder.
And let me say once and for all, police, you are allowed to run away. If a situation is scary if one of the people in a group you’re looking at is black, you’re allowed to run. I know that’s sooo scary, so you have permission to leave whenever you think a situation is getting out of hand. It’s actually been established that police have no obligation to protect the public, so in those iffy situations, just leave. Just don’t kill anyone.

This. Look at how shitty we treat our soldiers. The Americans you help in the field, the lives you’ll save, they will all appreciate it, but our leaders will go out of their way to fuck you over.
I’m guessing they weighed their options and somehow thought it was the best option at the time. Maybe their beliefs didn’t align with the Taliban, or they didn’t believe they could leave the area and didn’t want to become 1 of the tens of thousands of civilians that were killed who weren’t combatants. One of them granted asylum, and one being treated like shit, hopefully they’ll get lucky and they’ll just detain him and let him go when some politician realizes it may lose more support from military members.
