I remember buying a car in 2005 and considering if I should buy a hybrid or not. I did the calculations on how long it would take to break even upgrading to a hybrid - taking into account the price of gas at the time.
I remember thinking “yeah gas is $2 a gallon now, but there’s NO WAY it stays that high over the life of the vehicle.”
I feel like a jackass. I built my son’s PC with 32 GBs of RAM a couple years ago. My buddy built a new PC and gave me his old 32 GBs, which was the exact same brand and spec of the RAM in my son’s PC.
I tried putting in the new RAM but got a boot error immediately. Rather than taking the time to troubleshoot properly and get it working, I just pulled it out and threw it away. I was like “meh, RAM is cheap and always getting cheaper. If I want to upgrade later, I’ll just buy more.”
I actually had to turn it off halfway through and then revisit it the next day in the daylight. My wife asked “are you scared?” and I was like “not really scared, just deeply unsettled.”
Seriously great movie. I saw it this weekend and now have been telling all my friends to watch it so I have people to discuss it with. The problem is that since it’s a horror movie, a lot of people I’ve told are just hard passing.
They’re missing out. It’s scary, but it’s also a legit good movie. The scariness in the movie isn’t really like that from cheap jump scares like most movies, but just from this weird sense of something being very, very wrong.

It was stalking leading to death, for which they’re asking for life in prison. So not your run of the mill stalking case. There are a few people downplaying the seriousness of this guilty plea, but denial is the first step in the stages of grief. He’s going away for life.

Mangione still faces murder charges in a state trial set to begin next month, but his guilty plea in federal court is expected to have significant impacts on the state trial. New York state’s strict double jeopardy law could potentially upend those proceedings. That law says that a defendant can’t be tried twice for the same thing.
Mangione’s defense team cited that law in a motion filed Friday, shortly after his federal guilty plea, urging state court Judge Gregory Carro to dismiss state charges against him, including a count of 2nd degree murder. If successful, that legal maneuver could spare Mangione a longer prison term.
I can’t imagine the state dropping charges because he pled to stalking, while also admitting the murder.
Luigi Mangione, the 28-year-old accused of killing a health care executive on a Manhattan street, pleaded guilty to stalking charges in federal court Friday.
Mangione faced those charges in connection with the December 2024 shooting death of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
“I knew what I was doing,” Mangione said in court Friday. “I shot Mr. Thompson in Manhattan and he died.”
Thompson’s family was in the courtroom sitting in the front row watching as Mangione entered his plea. Mangione voiced no remorse and repeatedly referenced his concerns with the U.S. health care system.
Wow, I was expecting this to go to trial and be more drawn out.
Yeah this was all great information for the years leading up to about 2022. I refinanced several times in the decade leading up to that. But now, interest rates are steadily rising. Gonna be hard for anyone to take advantage of refinancing for a lower rate.
I think the best system would be not to allow tariffs to be illegally implemented in the first place. But I realize that’s asking a lot.
