It’s a shame, there was a scene cut where Captain America walks by a building showing graffiti art of his helmet with the word ‘fascist’ in red on it, causing him to sigh and toss it off. I don’t think he wore it again until Endgame, where they incorporated it into the time travel suit.

Wish that scene should’ve been kept in, and had a bit more focus on Steve Rodgers questioning if he truly was working for organizations that believed what he did. A crisis of faith moment for him instead of a quick 3-second pass with a joke from Hawkeye.

I think there are a lot of people who honestly mean well. Have been in the past, and likely still are. But what we have right now, to take a cue from Komodo up above with his Captain American post, this is like real-world Captain America: Winter Soldier, where it looks like overnight we’ve suddenly become a fascist nation. Sad reality though is, like that movie, things have been going on for decades that led us to this point.

I’m not optimistic about our near future. Shit looks grim. But, I’m optimistic that we can eventually fight our way out of it, and hopefully correct things after whatever needs to be done, is done. Got to have some hope, otherwise there’s no point in holding on at all.

I feel you, by “baddies” I’m more referring to the powers that be in America. You and I are just victims to their bullshit that they subject us all to so they can play their little capitalist games. Yeah the future looks frightening for sure and this really sucks but hopefully it’ll at least be a catalyst to a better future. Like Samwise said, the good in this world is worth fighting for and that’s exactly what I’m going to do. What we’re heading into won’t be sustainable and hopefully people wake up and it does seem to be happening a lot more lately. While it looks grim, we will be supported by like minded people so we’re not alone and we’re growing every day

Yeah and the origin of the “are we the baddies?” skit was about guys fighting for the bad guys (that Mitchell and Webb show). Most of us (especially on Lemmy, .ml/hexbear excluded) are anti-fascist, but stuck in a place with very little power to make it stop. We can protest and lots of us will throw wrenches in the works when possible. But many will be seriously hurt when they act, and have families and dependents to provide for.

We’re working to survive and hopefully emigrate and join a resistance in Canada or Europe or Asia, that can fight the fascists externally.

I love Mitchell and Webb. Peep Show is one of my favorite shows ever. Yeah I would absolutely be down for emigrating especially if a third of the country is down with this shit and another third doesn’t seem to care either way. Hope all this shit works out for the better

Lol, the “fairness meter” says unfair left leaning. The article is literally just stating what occurred. ❄️

I’m gonna guess this sort of thing is more the rule than the exception. The goal isn’t to deport actual gang members, it’s to signal a tough-on-illegal-immigration policy without the challenge that comes with actually deporting people who aren’t trying to be found. So they just deport law abiding people who are easier to find because the reality doesn’t matter.

ACAB gonna do what ACAB does. Back in the day if a crime was committed the cops would go into a minority neighborhood from which a suspected criminal was from and just arrest someone. “They were guilty of something…” Didn’t matter if they were or not. Just arrest them anyway.

Forcibly remove first, ask questions later is going to soon end up kidnapping random people out of the country…

Conservative excuses and goalposts will adapt as we go along:

    • but look, he was supposed to be deported anyway (Abrego Garcia)
    • doesn’t matter that he has a valid asylum case, he came here illegally so he should be kicked out (Gutiérrez)
    • If you don’t want to support America, you shouldn’t have a green card (Mahdawi)
    • he looks like he came from out of the country and he helps illegal migrants anyway, too bad he’s a US citizen
    • these were people spewing violent rhetoric about Trump and America, take them out of the country if they don’t want to be here
    • hey wait, this is a mistake!? (future kidnapped Conservative)

“Soon end up” … my dude, it 100% already is. This article is exactly that. A random kidnapping and booting.

Both the American and El Salvadoran heads of state have stated that neither is able to return people sent from the US to CECOT.

In other words, this man will die in CECOT.

Trump has the “excuse” of having to depend on El Salvador for this but there’s no way Bukele has no control over their prison system. This is the same guy that had the weight to “sanitize” El Salvador of criminals, i’m sure there’s nothing within El Salvador’s borders this guy can’t control.

In other words, this man will die in CECOT.

This guy is likely already dead, which would also be the only somewhat logical explanation as to why Nayib can’t return him.

Are American law enforcement just reading Nazi history and emulating it at this point?

“Oh yeah, they did this in 1942 so we should do that too!! … Kristallnacht? … oh yeah, we gotta do that one too! … and book burnings and maybe a giant parade or a mass rally with flags and shit”

I wonder how long until someone in Trump’s circle suggests they have people wearing symbols on their shirts so they can’t make these mistakes anymore?
