I typically browse /all with a lot of subs blocked (typically NSFW ones that just have NSFW content that I’m not into) but I’d like to block all of the Trump and Elon posts without having to sacrifice my visibility with all of the news subs.

To add to this, I’m on mobile via Voyager

Anyone able to do this or lend some insight?

Thanks in advance.

If you use a Programming.dev account, all political posts are filtered from “all” unless they’re from a community you subscribed to. I suggest you give moving instance a try.

Since you’re on lemmy.world, the move would be good for decentralization too.

I’ve gotten hate just from being on .world, can you elaborate on the decentralization bit? Do you mean just kind of spreading people out instead of being on one of the larger instances in this case?

Yeah, spreading people out is great. I have no particular hate for lemmy.world, but it is way too big compared to the other instances, which can be troublesome if it keeps expanding and in the future a company buys the instance and suddenly controls the majority of Lemmy.

For sure, I’ll definitely consider it.

Also, I didn’t mean to imply that you were hating on it, others have usually just called me a Russian bot or something similar. It was just the first instance I found that didn’t have odd requirements during the Reddit purge.

I feel like being ignorant of the issues is what mostly brought the American public to vote for him/allow this to happen. Wouldn’t this put you onto a similar path or at least become complicit towards what’s going on?

Or are you in the belief that someone else will just do something for you?

      Neither.

I come to lemmy as a means of entertainment, blocking people from posting Trump/musk articles from shitty sources like Newsweek isn’t going to change how informed I am, it’s just going to continue being entertainment.

The most important thing any of us could have done was vote. I did do that.

There a lot of other ways that could explain why that’s not gonna happen at least in my case, but I’m not gonna go into them.

You can understand the issues without having them shoved in your face. Id argue a lot of people would understand them a lot better if they blocked them, and went out and intentionally sought the information rather than someone curating the most ragebait ridden shit the could find times 1000 every day and serving them to you.

And lastly and most importantly, being informed means nothing if we’re not willing to take to the streets and solve this problem with violence. We’re past information, reason, requests, and protests.

    • South Asian
    • East Asian
    • Filipino
    • Ukrainian
    • European

    • transgender
    • gay
    • nonbinary
    • someone with a uterus
    • queer
    • in the military

*Note that list is not comprehensive, up to and including whoever Trump and Musk decide to disenfranchise tomorrow, in order to distract everyone from whoever they disenfranchised yesterday.
