I’ve been paying $8-9 for fancy organic farmer’s market eggs for years. It’s wild to me that the basic Kroger brand egg now cost that much but my fancy eggs haven’t gone up in price.

Since Zuck, Musk and whoever runs Google didn’t lobby heavily to get TikTok banned in India, the users had no reason to be super salty towards those platforms (aside from the usual reasons to hate on those platforms). Over 5he last week I saw as many people on TikTok saying to follow them on Instagram as I saw people saying fuck Zuck, I’m not using Instagram Reels (one dude said he’d rather “walk barefoot over molten glass legos”)
A buttermilk and chive panna cotta perhaps?
Imagine what kind of country we’d have if these important people used their considerable influence to pressure the DOJ to hold Trump accountable? Or pressure congress to deal with gun violence? Or do anything other than line their pockets and look out for themselves to the detriment of everyone else?
Medicine. If I could get an upload to make me an instant doctor, that would be amazing.
He’s rich tho, his lawyer will likely get him bail.
His grandparents are wealthy. His parents may be rich but might not be wealthy (they may or may not be, we only know about the grandfather’s extensive holdings and the expensive schooling).
It may sound like bullshit to people stressed about making rent, but middle aged people worth a few million aren’t wealthy. Like if you’re super lucky you can work for 20-30 years and own a house in or near a major city and have a enough of a retirement or pension to quit working when you’re old and have a reasonable lifestyle. I’m in a mid tier city and even here paying off your house or condo means you’re worth at least 500k. That isn’t “buy a politician” money. That isn’t “live in any country I want because I’m rich enough that everyone gives me citizenship” money. That isn’t “immune from health insurance fuckery” money. That isn’t “get away with murder“ money.
Anyway. A wealthy grandfather may be willing to help out with or pay for schooling. But it’s a coin flip on whether he’s gonna shell out hundreds of thousands or millions for a legal defense (and if he did, would he pull funding if the defense wasn’t to his liking?). From the granddad’s perspective, the kid is a class traitor.
The police said he’s a person of interest. All the news reports are calling him the shooter. I saw a clip from Good Morning America and they didn’t even bother saying “alleged”. It seems crazy irresponsible.
What a surprise, Elon is wrong about yet another thing.
I saw a comment on another site where someone said the NYPD confirmed that the “ person of interest” is not the suspected shooter, but no one could produce a link confirming that assertion. The news anchors are all phrasing it like he’s the suspected shooter, which is fucked. Some ding dong in the PD’s gonna shoot a dude that they need for questioning (if they manage to find him when the whole city saw nothing)
Fair point. I suspect that the NYPD doesn’t really want to bring him in alive.
Regardless of whether the picture is correct, if you think you saw this man, no you didn’t.
Agreed. I would call the Dickies style barn jacket tan rather than cream though.
The fabric looks different too. Like the shooter’s jacket seems to have a texture like gore-tex and the hostel guy’s jacket seems more like a cotton-poly weave. It’s hard to know for sure with the low quality images, but the colors look really different (and neither is anything close to cream)
Because it goes with the red-black color scheme of the cards?
This needs a NSFL tag.
And RIP to the camera person’s eyes. Surely they were blinded by the glare.
UK born British-Canadian citizen? So another far right anti-immigrant immigrant, coming to the US to stir up shit? When will we deport this clown and Phony Stark?
Ah, that’s unfortunate. If you say you’re happy in your SUV then showing you places to live that aren’t your SUV isn’t very helpful. Having a discussion about whether you’re aware of and prepared for any risks associated with living in an SUV could be productive - either you’d learn something from social worker’s knowledge of many people living in vehicles or the social worker could be reassured that you’re not in a terrible situation.
Do be careful out there! I hope you’ve got enough cash in the bank or enough credit to recover if someone messes with your SUV.
Out of curiosity, what were her arguments?
If you have enough resources to weather any (literal or metaphorical) storms, then you might be OK but that is not the typical situation.
So if I understand correctly, Israel managed to get a bunch of people in Hezbollah to use pagers and walkie talkies that contained bombs. But they have not been able to gather enough intelligence from control of those communication devices to find and rescue the remaining hostages? And if they weren’t able to catch useful information from those devices, why did the people holding those devices deserve to get blown up?
They should have kept booing until he was forced to leave. Nothing gets to proceed in the presence of Nazis. And if that means the show is canceled or ruined, so be it. We’ve already had far worse things ruined this week.
