Well, in some countries, there was indeed historical link between sexual/gender minorities and pedophile advocacy movements (well “movements” is kind of a strong word here) during the 1950s to 1980s. It’s hard for us to understand today, but during my studies, I’ve worked on that topic and met a few people invested in creating or dismantling this link.

But :

1. It didn’t last for long.
2. That’s certainly not what they have in mind.
3. Most importantly, although public and documented cases exist, those minor parts of the LGBT movements were CERTAINLY NOT the strongest allies of the pedophile advocacy movement. Their strongest allies were actually well… more probably from the ruling class.

Not only do I highly doubt the validity of your argument, which an overwhelming majority of scholars would disqualify based on its implicit assumptions (although not the idea that a hierarchy of societies exist at a given point of time), but I also strongly think it has no place on Lemmy. You seem to be pretty up voted on a regular basis except a few comments. In my humble opinion, most of them would not be explained by a specific reddit hive mind but rather classic moral panics. I mean, I’ve been campaigning my whole life for prison reform/abolition and that’s the typical kind of reactions I’ve got… irl. I suppose that’s just what you usually get when saying something which deviates from a specific state of public opinion.
