  • I have 2 significant scars I’m not happy about, but only one is my fault. The first is a big ugly scar from when I had appendicitis as a kid. They told me it would be small and go away, but 40-odd years later it’s still there.

The one that’s my fault is on my right kneecap. I was jumping on my parents’ bed and they had this big sturdy cedar chest at the foot. I lost my balance and came down real hard on my right kneecap. It hurt so bad I passed out briefly from the pain. I couldn’t put any weight on it for an hour and couldn’t walk on it the rest of the day. The scar is small, but it is a reminder of my own stupidity cause it wasn’t like I hadn’t been warned that jumping on the bed was dangerous.

  • Iono, from the somewhat-outside (I’m a bit more lefty than the Democratic party) perspective, I disagree, because it kind of seems like what happened is AOC talked a big game, got some press on some more progressive ideas, and then got ‘deradicalized’ I guess is the word? back to the centrist norm of the party. Now I barely hear about her because she’s (to my understanding, but I haven’t been following her very closely) just like all the other democrats in office instead of being the idealist firebrand she once was. That feels like a solid loss for her constituents in my book, but… shrug that’s just, like, my opinion, man.

I’m definitely with you that the party needs some fresh blood though, the vampires in charge have long overstayed their tenure.

  • Fair enough. I try to have more nuanced opinions than ‘both sides bad’, but… :P

You’re right though, I’m sweating a lot more in this administration with their attacks on social security (I’m on disability), shitting on our allies, going after our neighbors, etc etc. I had no illusions, I knew another Trump term would be worse by far than another Biden term. Mostly my argument about Biden’s mental decline isn’t that I don’t want a dementia patient running the country because apparently that’s not a choice we get to make, but rather that a lot of people weren’t going to vote for him based on those issues and especially after the debate.

You do make a fair point though about trashing Biden (which really wasn’t my intent anyway) while Trump and his pals are doing their best Sieg Heil impression, I need to be more aware of that perception and make sure I’m more clear about it when I do cause I don’t want anyone to get the impression that I think Trump is better in literally any way whatsoever.
