I haven’t had the new vaccine yet, but after evading the old strain and catching the new one before vaccines were available, I can say… the original Moderna vaccine kicked my ass about equally as hard as covid’s first day did.

(The cough is by far the worst part, but for me that didn’t start until later, so the covid fever day felt completely identical to the post-vaccine day.)

Or do you neglect your appliances as much as you neglect your animals? They do still require some human intervention to empty their waste, so you still can’t ignore them even if you’re dealing with it less.

You accepted this responsibility when you took in a cat. I hate it too, no one likes playing in poop. You aren’t special or alone in this. We all find a way to suck it up and get it done because we love our pets, and if you can’t, you aren’t fit to be a pet owner.

It doesn’t even take swearing for some of them - I had one earlier this week that hung up on me when I tried pressing zero to see if that got me anywhere. Touchier than humans.

Sigh. Please OP, we’re not doing that here. Downvotes should be reserved for trolls and the counterproductive. This comment with its snappy “kick the puppy that is your opinion” is not the most productive, but there are downvotes from OP on way more innocuous things, even one comment that agrees reddit is dying but in a different way than the linked article envisions.

Please leave that behavior on reddit.

Out of date tbh - It’s never a labyrinthine phone tree anymore, it’s a “natural speech” based menu that can never help with more than the most basic inquiries like “how much is my bill?” and still stubbornly refuses to put you in the queue for a real person.

This kind of integration is pretty much the whole point of kbin. People should be gravitating toward lemmy if they don’t want this and toward kbin if they do.

I tried to be as clear as possible that I appreciated the vaccine, still plan to keep it up to date, and don’t blame its inability to catch every mutation, and someone still needs to get lecturey about it…

(And yes, I am up to date with the COVID vaccines)

This doesn’t really seem to matter with all the new mutations that are loose right now. The spouse and I are up to date as well, but we still caught it ~3 weeks ago after avoiding it for 3.5 years. We healed up fine, but it sure did suck. Looking forward to updated boosters.

Wow, that’s a kind of dismissal that only those who have no idea how bad it gets can wield. Reading glasses help with clarity, but clarity is not the only issue with old eyes and other visual impairment. Sometimes you just plain need things bigger.

I know you’re not actually saying that, but countering “this is a known firmware fault” with a reminder that backups should be done sure makes it look like you’re saying that. There’s still value in making sure consumers’ money goes to products that last.

Bottlecaps are big for mine too. They like to bat them down the hall and chase them, like it’s hockey.

But they are Canadian so I give them a pass.

While play does draw from their hunting instincts, in my experience, sometimes they really are just trying to have fun. In this case, my cats have liked similar things because of how light and easy they are to bat/toss around (vs other toys, like stuffed animals, where they don’t throw them into the air nearly as much).
