Does the bird decimation happens in the wilderness too? When birds have trees enough to hide? The cats we’ve had very rarely brought birds home. I think our livingroom windows have taken out more birds than our cats ever did. They brought back mouse often instead.
So my guess is that it is also the lack of cat-safe hiding spots that get small birds killed in cities. Not all birds are able to stay on roofs when its a bit of wind. And cats can easier sneak up buildings than out on a thin tree branch.
Not pets, but I greet the wild birds around here with “Gmorning, boids” or something. The reason is simple: I hate being a bother, even to animals, and the birds are less likely to be scared and fly away if I speak to them.
Also when I lived with cats, no cat who was let out would ever forget to say “mrr”, which I interpreted as a “thank you”. Of course I responded to them like I would a human.
Who names these bills though? They could just as well name it “Wont-take-away-more-of-your-privacy-jk bill”. Would be a lot more fair for everyone and less likely to mislead if we only refered to such stuff by a neutral and boring unique id.
Less annoying and more entertaining than the crowd of people around them.
I don’t care which one it is, all 3 had an excellent Hell March.
And while I loved both RA2 and RA3 for their style, CnC Generals was the better RTS just for being better balanced. Unfortunately no memorable music in Generals.
I’ve barely played the game, it wasn’t for me, but I fell instantly in love with the Bastion and Transistor soundtracks the moment I heard them.
It is my second most played game soundtrack right behind the metal songs from the Alan Wake series. Third is all 3 Hell March songs from Red Alert series. Fourth and oldest is probably Unreal Return to Na Pali and generally all of the two Unreal and four Unreal Tournament game tracks. And the Frozen Synapse series and Uplink soundtracks is probably close to the top too. And I don’t know if it counts but the artist behind the Wheel of Time game soundtrack released a separate almost-soundtrack, which I played A LOT while reading the book series.
And thats just a few of my favorite tracks. I love video game music! I can’t really decide on a single best one.
and eventually, for anyone who wants to work more efficiently
Oh… How many years until we have Deus Ex Human Revolution in real life?
Go back to bed for an hour or more. Then force myself out of bed while I’m freezing (even in a warm room). Pee. Get on clothes. Go outside to buy a iced coffee (more for the morning walk than for the coffee).
Heres a weird thing… Step 1 and 2 has been so much easier lately. After I started taking 2g fast-release melatonin pills before bed. Why would pills for falling asleep faster help me waking up 7.5 hours later? I’m hoping struggling with those two steps can be a thing of the past, if this continues. I hate how grumpy (and cold, and slow) I usually am every darn morning.
Remember that they asked for the BG license just after they finished D:OS1. The game was what they used to prove themselves. The game mechanics is probably what they always had planned for if they was ever allowed to create BG3.
I’m glad for it. The game mechanics of surface elements and mixing to create new effects was fun but way overused in D:OS series. After 2 games, their third got the right balance between fun and annoying, I think.
TOML does look good. Wow! I havent looked at it at all before.
I’m no fan of XML. It looks messy and the schema is difficult to write, imo. XML works best as a markup language.
YAML could have been okay if it were stricter with what they consider strings, and used tabs instead of spaces.
JSON if it also has an online schema, and a reference to it in the JSON file. That way some editors can check for errors and hint to the user about it.
But the good old flat text-data, the ini format is consistent, readable, and easily understandable by less-technical users.
Cortana was pretty good at understanding me. Was much faster to use my voice than touch, for stuff like setting reminders and alarms. Or starting music (it understandably sucked at changing tracks, unless you had headphones).
I was excited for what else they would make it do. But it became clear MS only goal with it was to advertise stuff. And to US only. And when they failed that, they ripped out any useful features from it.

Well, dont hold your shit in for 3 days…
Anyone think Fediverse active userbase is going to fall as much too, only slower? That most people will return to their comfy commercial social networks now that the reddit and twitter demonstrations is in the past?
I’m hoping not. I like it this active. I don’t want to go back to ads and “personalised” feeds and yearly new useless features.
Its nice to be allowed to have doubts about it too, without panicking, even though the final conclusion is that yes I consider myself straight. Its definitly not as binary as SOME people claim. And knowing that, I am also learned to be a lot less trusting of peoples world views and “common sense”.
