It would seem that the board could end that, as the lack of contracts distributing liability, etc. could be very problematic for the county. They may have to file suit against the sheriff, but I doubt that will happen.

Interestingly, the board has 3 democrats and 2 republicans, so the vote was down party lines, and one of the republican seats is at issue in the election this fall. Note that there are other facilities in the area ICE and CBP can use, so really this is more of a symbolic measure, but an important one, as San Diego has a massive Latino community. Unfortunately, Sheriff Martinez doesn’t come up for reelection until 2028.

Look like that city council has opened up a potential budget draining risk by installing a buttload of cameras the people don’t want. Given the tight budgets of small towns, the city could be broke in short order if pissed off citizens rise up and start vandalizing them.

I just turned 60, and in the wake of my divorce 5 years ago I’ve made a dedicated effort to get my health and fitness in order, and am now in the best physical condition of my life. As I recently re-entered the dating pool, I’ve discovered that being a fit, good-looking man over 40, I’m in high demand.

Roughly half of all Americans are overweight, and I have no doubt that percentage increases significantly in men over 40. As a consequence, I have access to more attractive women than I’ve ever had in my life, and older women can be quite aggressive.

In the U.S., at age 30 there are roughly 120 single men per 100 single women. By age 45 there are only 95 single men per 100 single women, and by age 55 there are only 57. That is a massive shift that completely changes the power dynamic. There are a LOT of attractive women over 40, and I’m finding that while I did very well with women in my younger days, that pales in comparison to my experience today.

All of the dance classes I take include some amount of social dancing after, so that you can practice what you’ve learned. Everyone is very friendly and will dance with you, as they’re all there to learn. For popular dances, there will be bars and nightclubs with music and dancing. With swing, I can easily go to events 5-7 nights per week, many of them free. I’ve found the community friendly and helpful, and we coordinate which events we’re going to via a whatsapp thread.

I had my prior life completely destroyed, and spent about 5 years getting my health together, and last August began integrating myself back into society. Starting with zero social network, in just a few months of dance classes and social dancing, I have more friends and things to do than I’ve ever had in my life. I do swing/Lindy Hop, which is popular in my area, and also some ballroom dancing, but a lot of people do Salsa/Bachata. I cannot overstate how awesome this has been for meeting people. As a single man, it’s especially powerful, as you have an easy introduction (“would you like to dance?”), you’re immediately in their intimate space, and if you’re any good at all you’re delivering a fun, custom choreographed experience that lights their face and makes them smile from ear to ear. At 60 years old, my social life has never been better, and I’m having fun with attractive women of all age ranges.
