I totally agree that the government shouldn’t have more of our data, so I looked up how the pilot program worked and honestly I’m not too mad about it. There are 3 options:

1. OBD-II device that reads your odometer and sends that in to be tracked. It has an OPTIONAL GPS which, if turned on, will make sure to only tax the miles driven in California (so it would not apply to miles while out of state). If turned off then all miles are taxed.

2. Car Telemetry that’s already in newer cars that can phone home and send the numbers in (This is my lease favorite)

3. You simply take a picture of your odometer and submit it. No invasion of privacy and seeing where you’re going. This is the one I like the best.

Educations tends to be off the clock. I wouldn’t expect them to let you work on schoolwork for a degree required for a promotion while on the clock either. My employer reimburses me for my continued education (CE) that’s required to keep my licenses, but it’s not something we get to work on during work.

Doctors don’t necessarily send patient information between each other, but many practices use connected platforms (i.e. My Chart) that a new provider could pull previous history from. Doctor shopping is when a patient goes to different providers/practices in hopes of getting multiple prescriptions (such as controlled substances like Vicoden or Percocet). Others mentioned maybe it’s pharmacy shopping which is when a patient takes prescription(s) to multiple pharmacies hoping for better prices or, in the case of controlled substances, trying to find one who won’t check the state’s controlled medication reporting system to verify they aren’t already getting it elsewhere.

The prednisolone is liquid, just use a syringe and squirt it into her mouth. The one our vet has is chicken and bacon flavored which she tolerates pretty well. We actually just restarted it since her asthma was getting bad again, and we’re going to titrate to as low of a dose as is effective since there are some downsides with long-term pred use. She’ll generally have a vet visit once or twice a year to reevaluate

Ours has been managed with fluticasone HFA (just increased to 200mcg yesterday) and a low oral dose of prednisolone daily. Sorry your cat is having such a rough time :(

My wife and I were speculating about moving to B.C. Canada today…

I went for a routine dental cleaning today and my dentist integrated a specialized AI tool to help identify cavities and estimate the progress of decay. Comparing my x-rays between the raw image and the overlay from the AI, we saw a total of 5 cavities. Without the AI, my dentist would have wanted to fill all of them. With the AI, it was narrowed down to 2 that need attention, and the others are early enough that they can be maintained.

I’m all for these types of specialized AIs, and hope to see even further advances in the future.

Costco’s optometrist said they couldn’t buff out the scratches on mine since they don’t actually use glass anymore. They use polycarbonate lenses which are strong and won’t shatter if broken (I’ve definitely tested this on accident…)
