Funnily enough that is the exact situation I got. Parents started paying for Spotify almost 2 decades ago, and the great people they are have just kept it going since for me. I do have a YouTube premium (I know this is a bit frowned upon on Lemmy) sub going, but YouTube Music just doesn’t quite function the way I want it to.
Wow, that’s a fantastic write up! Very cool to hear from someone who has used all the major platforms. I’m leaning towards Tidal, but they all seem to work quite well for everyone in here. I think what I’m going to do is dedicate a month to each service, write down my experiences with it, and go from there. Deezer has the free trial, so could start with that. Some other people in this thread has noted about the non-sorting of downloaded tracks and other questionable UI choices, so I’ll keep an eye out for that.
I didn’t expect to find any native apps, even Spotify’s client is an unoffical distribution, but I’m glad to hear they all have something available at least. I’m intrigued by Cider, seems like one hell of a project.
Mm good shout about the free trial with Deezer. Not much point not giving that a shot then.
My only real gripe with it so far (only 6 hours logged because I’ve been waiting for improvements) is the performance. Like when I installed kcd 2 now I expected to have to go in and turn down some settings because the first one was quite heavy to run. But no, right out the box it runs amazingly on all ultra (with dlss enabled as a caveat). I’m just waiting for some random youtuber to say “oh the deva forgot to set this one flag in the level editor and now it runs three times better”.
I guess I do it for a couple of reasons. My mind wanders a lot, looking at myself keeps me a bit focused and ensures I don’t do anything silly. I also try to put myself as close to the camera as I can, I know you often come off better looking into the camera when speaking.
Agreed. Like I get “hurr durr statistics”. But you’re not very likely to be in a car crash on any given day, but you still put your seat belt on. That people can’t take the backseat for just a second and have some empathy for the struggles of other people without butting in with whataboutism. You’re even allowed to share in their struggle. I don’t fear I’ll be SAd, but of course I fear physical violence, so use your commonality to support each other rather than trying to one up.
World in conflict is so much fun. That form of control dating back from the ground control series feel so good.
I’m not sure I understand what you are saying. What part of the OS should managed the packages? The creators aka. Microsoft/Linux foundation/Apple/Google, the distributor, or a kernel module? What about cross platform package managers like Nuget, gradle, npm?
I see it as it’s easy to self host. But I’m not skilled nor rich enough to guarantee the availability of it. I don’t want to be stuck on a holiday without my passwords because my server back home died from black out or what have you.
I pay for bitwarden and the proton mail package to keep the password management market a bit more competitive and it actually works out cheaper. It would be nice to have protons anonymous emails built in, but I can live with it.
But I might have to reconsider if Bitwarden is going a different direction that what I’m paying for.
No you see some infinites are bigger than other. So light year is basically a larger infinity than millions. There’s a YouTube video about, look it up 👍

Ah yes. I always forget to remove the label from my hunted bird. Cleaning “the top bone” is such a chore as well.
“This process is akin to how humans learn… The AI discards the original text, keeping only abstract representations…”
Now I sail the high seas myself, but I don’t think Paramount Studios would buy anyone’s defence they were only pirating their movies so they can learn the general content so they can produce their own knockoff.
Yes artists learn and inspire each other, but more often than not I’d imagine they consumed that art in an ethical way.
Iron Giant I believe. Though he’s not actually holding a mug of himself 😄
