For general consumers? Probably complete industry collapse and regression. Specialized industries and national security use will continue to develop, but broad market access is going to likely stagnate for a decade at least if not more.

Hard pass. There absolutely should be no AI in any classroom under any circumstances. The whole point of a classroom is to build a foundation on which to understand the fundamentals before they slap a set of training wheels on and vibe-code their way into disaster. Most of these LLMs ignore whatever guardrails you slap on them far too frequently.
The most important lesson these kids need to learn is if you can’t do it yourself, you shouldn’t be letting an LLM do it for you. If the best you can say about the effects is “This version doesn’t seem to be actively harming them” then the bar is in hell, and we shouldn’t be playing with these tools at all at this point.
Canadian, here. I think they’re great. Most seem like really nice people. Except the ones that astroturf for the CCP. Those can go back to China if they prefer it so much. I think we’re all clear on the assignment. We’ve all taken a hit for the sake of “Buy Canadian” and other movements, to help with re-alignment, and we all know we’re going to have to support each other as shocks continue to hit. An important factor, however, is the pain needs to be distributed in a reasonable way. The TSE index funds are seeing solid and gaining dividends. We need to see some more movement from the top income brackets in putting those dividends back in to domestic industry to help compensate for inevitable job losses.

Umm… in what country is it people get kidnapped and ransomed every day? I mean, I’m not saying it’s not a thing, it does happen, but it’s actually pretty rare in most of North America. I mean, it’s pretty common in Mexico, but in most of the continent the most common kidnapping is a biological relative abducting a child.
Also, unless you’re selling literally everything, they can pad their margins on what you don’t provide, and pound you into the ground with loss-leaders, ON TOP of volume discounts.
