As someone who worked (third party) for T-Mobile a good 15ish years ago: Why am I not surprised that the company that I used to take phone calls for regarding other peoples shit appearing on their online photo roll on the website somehow is having this problem?? 😆

I just wish the community had more posts about comic books, given that’s the intended purpose for it and not comic strips, and there are communities for both comic strips and webcomics already. (There is https://lemmy.world/c/comicbooks also for comic books but it’s also less populated).

The hardware side, I assume.

Yeah I got 30TB of everything from tv to film to comics to music, haven’t had to rely on a streaming service since dumping Netflix over a decade ago.

It’s really hard to say to be honest, so I’m going to go based on the movie I watch the most frequently (and I can back that up with 4ish years of media server stats!), so with a total of 49 views during that time:

Scary Movie. Absolutely hilarious, just about every scene makes me cackle. Scary Movie 2 is also a frequent watch (along with 3 on occasion, 4 and 5 if I’m baked out of my gourd), but that first movie is a pure classic.

Also honourable mention to my 19-views-in-the-same-time-period entry: A Haunted House, also by Marlon Wayans. Fucking hilarious, and has a decent enough sequel too.

Don’t worry, another year or two and they’ll be selling us Overwatch Classic™ for $15 a month.

That’s what I figured, which makes sense.

I have not tested it with accounts from other instances or platforms but:

Boost - Do so on a Microblog page on a Kbin magazine - Kbin users can see it higher in the Hot/Active, as well as Mastodon users seeing something retweeted via that hashtag (kbin.social/m/gaming’s microblog would be visible to them via #gaming).

Boost - On a Microblog page on a Lemmy Instance - Pretty sure only Kbin can see it lol. Lemmy can’t see the microblog stuff I don’t think, and Mastodon can’t see Microblog content there either irc.

Boost - Do so on a Thread on Kbin - Influence the comment order in the same means as Reddit upvotes. I.E. If I boost a particular (parent) comment, and no other comment has a boost, that comment shoots to the top as if on Reddit I upvoted a comment and every other (parent) comment on the thread had 0 or negative points.

Per the above - I HAVE ZERO IDEA IF ANYONE ON LEMMY IS INFLUENCED BY THIS IN THEIR HOT/ACTIVE VIEW. If you know, tell me lol.

Edit: If someone from Lemmy can confirm: Is the parent comment below mine on this thread by WalnutWalrus? If so, yes kbin boosts in a thread influence the hot/active comment ordering for lemmy users when they view a thread too (I boosted it to test).

Boost, to my understanding, is only a thing on Kbin. Ernest coded Kbin to have better connectivity with Mastodon (Boost was originally our analogue for a retweet) then Lemmy does, and that’s one of the options he made (the Microblog section being another. The non-Kbin instances (so all of lemmy, and thus most of the people who can read this thread) just don’t have a Boost button.

That being said Boost has changed a bit in terms of how it works since it was created, and it’s gonna keep being changed (literally they have said they are working on it lol). For me I basically Boost anything I upvote as a force of habit at this point.

Edit: And to those even from Kbin who don’t know since I see some of you in the comments - It’s currently like a super upvote. Boost something and it’ll make the comment rise higher in the thread, like higher upvoted comments on a reddit thread would go up to the top. (Less if it’s changed since the time I learned that from some other fediverse schmuck lmao).

ReadEra (Android at least, not sure if it’s on iOS) is the app I’m currently using and enjoying. I also previously used Aldiko for several years with no issue. Still have it installed but if my (poor) memory serves I think its no longer being developed, but still works with no problem when I last used it). Could not tell you whether either is open source or not but I assume that should be easy enough to find out lol.

No. That’s what the instance block will do when we get it. Right now with the domain block, the point of it is for example, say you hate imgur.com. Why? Doesn’t matter, you just do. You can block the imgur domain so nothing from imgur, regardless of where it’s posted, will appear in your feed on kbin. If I post a picture linked from imgur on m/gaming, you won’t see it when you browse that magazine.

If you try to block an instance with that same method, posts and comments still come through fine. I’ve blocked a bunch of European instances due to language issues but the posts still sometimes comes through regardless (and many other people have commented saying the same over the last month, hence why we’ll be getting a proper instance block soonish).

That’s because we don’t have Instance blocking on kbin. We have domain blocking, which is not the same thing nor does it provide the same function.

Instance blocking is supposed to be coming soon however according to comments on codebase (no idea on an ETA).

He has had 1 or 2 incidents involving child pornography of some sort (which I’m not underplaying lol), but as far as molesting, not that we know.
