In 2014 I bought an R9 270x for slightly less than $250.
It ran every game from the time at high-ultra, 1080p 60fps. Except maybe crysis 3.
Don’t get me wrong, there’s bigger issues than not having a new card to render video games, but god damn do I miss that.
I keep eyeing certain computer components and thinking I should have bought last fall. Some drives are up more than 2x what they were, and memory is nearly 5x in some cases. I have a few low-end boxes that are going to have to try to “get by” until prices become reasonable again. I’m not buying at what is probably the height of this insanity…and that’s without even getting into GPUs. $7000 for a RTX 5090???
Americans’ opinions are pretty stupid. The same people with a low opinion of the economy could also have a good chance at having a positive opinion of trump’s tariff wars, trump’s war in the Middle East, trump’s destruction of US foreign influence hobbling our ability to obtain favorable trade, trump’s tax cuts for the wealthy, and so much more that has a negative impact on our lives.
They are incredibly myopic and selfish.
