I just overheard a coworker saying “Oh, I would never try that in my life!”, in a discussion of food. (This was about consuming a steak cooked less than medium well). It made me wonder what life is like for those who refuse to try new food, especially those who refuse to try mundane things like fried shrimp.

Why limit yourself? It seems like such a closed-minded way to view food. Help me understand?

This is an interesting thread to me. I have a strong negative feeling about not liking foods, so if there’s something on the menu I don’t like, I usually order it on principle.

I used to have 5 things on my “will not eat” list now it’s 3.

        1. No dirt or excitement
        2. No long John silvers
        3. No oysters
        4. Nothing that’s alive
        5. Nothing with a face

I now eat oysters, and I cans mind over matter eating shrimp that have not been deveined as long as I don’t see it, and I’ve beaten a few of the “face” foods (e.g., if there’s like a whole pig at a luau I could eat a piece now, but probably not like FROM the face).

Really it’s just oysters I solved, the others are pretty permanent lol.
