Jury Nullification
Free Luigesus
This is what happens when you hire Wario as a defence attorney.
Well, the charges he’s pleading to are stalking. Not the murder charges, and pleading in the federal case can get the state case for murder thrown out on double jeopardy under NY law if the federal case is settled first.
This isn’t that bad of a move for him.

Why would he plead guilty to something he didn’t do?
Because if he doesn’t take the deal then they will make sure to throw everything at him and ream his life and chances of survival.
“Don’t make this harder than it has to be, Mr Mangionski. Just sign here, and you will get a lenient 40 years in Gulag.”
The American justice system be like:
Insurance companies threatening to go full boeing on his loved ones?
Many such cases
Right? He was with all of us at the time.
Memes aside, you guys know he actually did this right?
You know the, “he didn’t do it” thing is a meme. As in, “oh no, he was totally with me that day. We were feeding homeless people at my local church”
It’s a meme because we support what he did
But in reality, he’s guilty as fuck. He totally did it
I don’t know shit.
And, O.J. taught us all that he can still get off, even if he did, because the law doesn’t define justice, people do.
What? Luigi literally just said he did it.
He told a judge that he followed Thompson to a UnitedHealth Group investor conference and shot him on the morning of Dec 4 2024. He also explained that leading up to the murder he emailed UnitedHealthcare while pretending to be an investor at a firm managing more than $50 million in assets so he could get information about the conference. He also acknowledged building a 3D-printed gun with a silencer and that this was the weapon he used for the shooting.
And I quote
“On the morning of Dec 4 2024 I shot Mr. Thompson in Manhattan and he died”
This isn’t new information to anyone who actually knows about the case… we all know he did it, we’re all just pretending like he’s innocent because we support him
yet these comments read like people don’t understand that we’re joking when we say he’s innocent.
That’s concerning that you guys are so thick you literally don’t recognize jokes when you see them anymore.
There’s nothing to argue about it. He did it. He admitted it. He’s pleading guilty.
Anyone in the comments who literally thinks he’s innocent is a fucking moron
The words of a man threatened with death. Plenty of innocent people take a plea deal under similar threats every day.
I really think he’d have a shot at jury nullification tbh
If his defense droped a few stories of other people being ruined by the insurance industry an just kept hammering it home he totally could
If juries were fairly selected he’d 100% get jury nullification…
Which is why it wasn’t going to happen organically in the current selection.
It’s like how to beat “straw purchase” gun laws: you just have to lie.
If you’ve heard of it as a concept, that’s enough to take you off. To the point it’s been a strategy for a long time of people who want to avoid jury duty. It doesn’t always work, because most of the time they don’t really care
Something like this, the government isn’t letting anyone on who knows what it is, and especially today would investigate anyone who suddenly “learned about it” after being selected.
So to be clear:
-
It should have worked.
-
It wouldn’t have.
Like, we’d have need Mario to get on the jury while wearing an obvious disguise, and they’d be taking almost as much of a risk as player 2. It just wasn’t likely.
I’m super interested in his reasoning for this, but I’d be really surprised if they let him do interviews anytime soon, and what matters more than us knowing is his legal strategies working. We just gotta wait and see.
I have lied about my intentions on every jury and I tell my loved ones to do the same.
Don’t disclose it ahead of time, obviously.
They can investigate it all they like, but all you have to do is never say the phrase “jury nullification” and start talking about how you’re not sure this should be a crime at all. I’m not saying it would necessarily work, but it’s not as though jury nullification is a wild thing that only exists in the US, it’s a fundamental part of how juries work- acknowledging it isn’t suspicious (again, without the name).

Boo
We will see on Friday. I think this is for the state case.
Watch Lemmy.world simp for United Health
It would be funny if the Feds give him a slap on the wrist, then hire him to be in the Secret Service, and part of Obama’s security detail
