    This article is pretty bad, even as sensational articles go. Scheduling an AI Hackathon isn’t really the same as ordering people to have fun, plus they calceled it after a bunch of people said they couldn’t participate.

      Depends on internal messaging. I’ve been at places where all the non-techie people are cheerleading for the “hackathon” - and then start doing nearly everything possible to make what is already a kind of “forced fun” activity very, very, very unfun.

      Like dictating all the terms, expected outcomes, what is in-bounds to work on (often just chosen tech debt items, lol) and then, making it a fucking contest on top of that.

      But everyone is expected to plaster on big, shit-eating grins and have “fun” because we were “allowed” to “hack” on “fun” projects.
