Donald Trump has issued his latest threat to Iran and said that if officials fail to make a deal with the United States “the whole country is going to get blown up.”
The president also made threats Sunday morning to target civil infrastructure after it was reported that Iranian forces were refusing to allow ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz this weekend.

Turns out that the Secret Service really is one of the few truly competent branches of government still around these days. I guess it’s just always, regardless of party or doctrine, in the best interest of the president to have the service operate with extreme competence. Trump will happily fill government branches full of incompetent goons instructed to gum up the works. He’ll happily dismantle multiple Congress-mandated departments and programs. He’ll grift off every bit of government graft he can. But I bet the Secret Service is the one he actually lets be run competently. If there’s anything the man cares about, it’s himself.
You do realize that it’s a hard thing to do?

Getting a gun is the easiest part.
Then you need to find an opportunity and make a plan for it. Then execute the plan and adapt to unforeseen circumstances. Training with the firearm and other preparations make sense as well. If you want to shoot Trump from close range you might need to social engineer your way into an opportunity. You will also need money for a bunch of expenses besides a gun.
There have been two attempts to shoot Trump that I remember, maybe more. The secret service is a formidable security provider for him.
You will also have to risk being shot by secret service or be ready to serve a long prison sentence or even the death penalty. Not such an easy decision.
Teamwork has its own challenges. Building a team and making group decisions is already difficult, if you’re planning a fishing trip. A high profile assassination is a different league. Finally any team member might get cold feet, change their mind, and snitch to the authorities. Then you go to prison without having achieved anything of substance.
All very good points.
My “teamwork” comment would work if there was a “no kings” rally but with guns and it was a march on Washington. Obviously that would be borderline impossible to organize but at this point I think a loud enough public call to action (maybe by a celeb) could actually make it happen.
As far as doing it like James Bond, I don’t think there would be an escape there. It would be a suicide mission, accepting that you’ll die is part of it.
Your comment never touched on fertilizer bombs like Timothy Mcvay (would be tough to get close but not impossible). Especially with an MMA event happening on the front lawn of the white house soon.
I’m amazed one of his staff hasn’t done it
It is, but at the same time it happens very often. Was it half or 1/3 of all US presdents died by being shot? And most of those were not actively trying to destroy their own country and any international relations it had.
A lot of people rooting for the fall of the west.
Absolutely crazy how many terminally online people casually call for someone to just throw their life away.
Saying you’re surprised something hasn’t happened is a long shot from encouraging that it’s done.
With the amount of unstable and desperate people out there I’m surprised nobody’s kidnapped Elon musks kids for ransom. I don’t wish his kids any harm, and don’t hope it happens, but I’m still a bit surprised that it hasn’t happened when you consider the amount of people out there with nothing to lose, questionable morals, and a big desire to make a lot of money.

Did you read their other comment?
Nah, that was in reply to the person saying it would be hard to do. It’s a counterexample meant to allude to the second amendment and what it was intended for, not a direct call to action, Agent Smith.
