5h on smartphone feels way worse than 5h on PC.
Posture
Eye strain with small display, typing on a touchscreen, and looking down at a smartphone are all much worse ergonomics than a desktop. At least for myself, the desktop is for productivity (work, hobbies) and the smartphone is for entertainment stuff generally. One feels better than the other after a day.
Desktop screen time is more often intentional.
I chock this one up to generational prejudice. Both are useful computers that can accomplish essentially the same thing.
“Phone bad” was already sentiment being pushed before smartphone ecosystems became enshittified.

Sometimes work is for the man, sometimes work is for me!
I don’t feel my phone time is any worse than my laptop time. Maybe because I keep notifications off except for email and Signal on my phone so it’s not asking for my attention all the time.
I feel that way giving kids computers. A Linux laptop CAN be source of brain rot (ala the internet) but an to a tablet or phone is almost guaranteed via the apps it has.
