It seems like many of you just consider it any non offensive meme. If it approaches the definition I’ve provided, you let it genuinely upset you. Based on my individual experience at least.

A shitpost should both entertain (via shock, absurdity, low-brow humour, etc) but also do so in such a way as to be a waste of time to actually read, time that could have been better spent on just about anything else.

I think the spirit of shitposting is in opposition to the spirit of taxonomy. And it’s super ironic to argue over the definition.

Precisely defining shitpost would annihilate it’s meaning and we’d be forced to use another word.

If you pay attention, you’ll notice that English is actually pretty bad at keeping slippery meanings contained inside her words.

Uh oh big man with big words coming in. Good to get your feedback though considering you’re one of the people I’m talking about not seeming to understand the concept.

My definition of shitpost is content with a joke that isn’t that good. It doesn’t matter that the media took 3 minutes to makes, or a month, or that it made you laugh for a whole minute, as long as the joke is simple and “stupid” that’s a shitpost.

This is a prime example of a shitpost. Lemmy Shitpost-17344908

The joke isn’t deep. It’s just that it wasted your time.

    Another example is this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CToEldwJdI

Despite being high quality and making me laugh hard when I first heard it, the joke is pretty shallow, thus a shitpost
