“Of course I get offended when I’m on my way to rest on my favorite blankie and the greasy primate decides to molest me with their greasy primate paws, which is why I make it a point to make them watch while I clean the defiled part of my body. But do they ever learn? NO!”
No, if my wife touches my hair I have to fix it. It feels wrong otherwise.
They’re doing the same thing.
ofc not, they are just fixing their fur

I love you, Doctor Zaius!
This is actually the cat being interested and curious as to who touched them, not a sign of rejection. If a cat doesn’t want to get touched, you won’t touch it.
You might touch it, but likely only briefly and you might also regret it.
It’s probably an instinct or a reflex. I’ve noticed my cats consistently start grooming themselves when I pet them and it’s as if they can’t help themselves if I keep doing it a certain way.
In all fairness she didn’t pass the initial sniff inspection followed by a surprise sniff inspection.
