A 32-year-old man who taught TaeKwondo summer camps for kids was sentenced recently to five decades behind bars after several of his victims discovered he was secretly recording them.

When reports of his behavior were made to police in 2021, detectives executed a search warrant at Erik Chen’s home and found hundreds of thousands of images of child pornography stored on his electronic devices, according to a press release from the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. .

Chen was ordered Friday to serve 50 years in the Colorado Department of Corrections by a Douglas County judge. He will also be required to register as a sex offender once he is released.

    Hold on.

    50 years for recording kids?

    But you got actual child rapists who happen to be religious or politicians… who get like 5-10 years?

    What is the difference here?

          Videos are there. You can point to it and say “here”. Victim memories are often multiple years of not decades ago. It sucks, it really does but physical tangible evidence is very hard to argue against vs someone 30 years old talking about what happened when they were 11.

          Besides, the church has the resources unlike this guy.

      I guess it’s because it could be he was distributing them? Sort of like how somebody a ton of drugs gets more than taking them.

      Personally, it doesn’t make sense to me either. Anybody who sexually abuses and/or records kids in lewd situations should get the death sentence.

        No. How do you say they should get the death sentence? How can you be sure you have the right person and that they’re truly guilty? You could potentially frame someone with abusive material. Too risky giving the death sentence in this situation, and actually most situations. I don’t agree with the death penalty anyway. Let them suffer in a cell for life.
