The symbolism in the movie is apparently in contrast to the book, which glorified war and the human side. The director decided to take it another direction and it was a fucking great decision

I have to admit, the book makes a great argument for “fascism” / military meritocracy, plus it’s just a easy to read action book.

I still think the argument is very flawed, and it’s a good thing that Heinlein (iirc) never had children to raise.

But do read it, it’s a decent book with an interesting argument.

Sadly, most viewers (at least, the most vocal ones here in America) really don’t understand that movie and end up glorifying the humans by the end. Media literacy is something we need to teach better

True. Just the meme goes like that. But I should probably watch it again anyway. I think I saw it 10+ years ago.

I think minnesota could probably get him on some form of Dereliction of Duty/RICO and throw in felony murder.

The way responsibility has been diffused throughout the command structure is exactly what RICO is for. That said, I don’t think it’s ever been used on a Federal agency before.

I sure hope they don’t let these characters just slink off into the shadows, never to face any consequences whatsoever.

I hope he retires and tries to live out in the general public. Lets see him try to go to the grocery store or eat in a restaurant. At minimum he’ll have spit in all his food for the rest of his dumbass life, assuming he doesnt end up in prison for his civil rights crimes under color of law.

The Border Patrol chief has been ousted from his role as “commander at large,” and will return to El Centro.

Finally, some accountability. Can’t imagine a worse punishment than being sent to El Centro.
