The White House on Monday confirmed that a journalist was included in a text group in which U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and others planned military strikes in Yemen.
In Goldberg’s own write-up in The Atlantic he mentioned the admin has, in the past, had an odd fixation on him.
It’s possible this was both gross negligence of national security and an attempt to entrap the journalist into being a leaker/whistleblower; creating a convenient excuse to target Goldberg and disappear him to El Salvador.
I have met him in the past, and though I didn’t find it particularly strange that he might be reaching out to me, I did think it somewhat unusual, given the Trump administration’s contentious relationship with journalists—and Trump’s periodic fixation on me specifically.[…] It is not at all uncommon these days for nefarious actors to try to induce journalists to share information that could be used against them.
