Nah, Mexico and Canada are just doing things they had already planned to do and telling Trump what he wants to hear. They’re just pretending the tariff announcement was part of their decision making so our idiot in chief feels like he did something. He’s such a child it hurts me to think about how millions of my fellow Americans are so goddamn stupid that they voted for him. Like, how can I not be angry with people who voted for Trump, they enabled this and it’s awful.

Anyways MX & CN are not caving at all, just illustrating how stupid our president and all of this is.

I see this less as caving to the bully and more grown-ups playing with a child. They know they can just nod their heads and play in Trump’s fentanyl fairytale land for a phone call, and that gives them a whole extra month for more trade deals that will make them less reliant on the U.S. The only one losing here is Trump, who just looks like a petulant toddler getting played like a rube, but I suspect he’s too stupid to see it that way.

This, but unfortunately the power dynamic is a little different than a usual grownup-toddler one. This toddler has a world destruction button next to his firefighter truck and could decide to play with that instead at any time something doesnt go his way.

They got nothing new. I’m far from a nationalist, but even I’m ok with strengthening our border with these American sleeze balls at this point. If anything I think Trudeau played him like a fiddle - “sure Donald, we’ll give you all this “new” spending to curb fentanyl at the border” literally a non-existent issues and money that’s already been spent.
