I generally agree, but I also think it depends on the capital. There are definitely losers (in the winning/losing sense) in the business world even just two months into the second Trump regime.
I think you’ll find that many (but not all) successful movements are driven by the potent pairing of a legitimately pissed off populace backed by capital.
Why bother with AI for that? https://black.readthedocs.io/en/stable/index.html
Isn’t that just as bad as Russia doing it?
That’s some real victim-blaming shit… What exactly did you expect Canada to do to counter Russian election interference in another sovereign nation?
Less than a third of eligible voters voted for Trump.
I mean, yeah. Part of the low pay inherent in U.S. government jobs is the baked-in assumption that it’s one of the most stable jobs around. Once that assumption goes out the window, the government will have to pay more to make up for the loss of that major perk.
Get that defeatism out of here. They’re only above the law if we let them be. To date, the Trump administration has backed off when a judge rules against them. Sure, they then try to come up with new, illegal shit to do. But the courts definitely still have a place in putting the brakes on it.
I call bullshit. Because no LLM ever says, “I don’t know.” It just confidently invents an answer out of thin air.
Only mostly facetious here…
Toeing the line? They’re going well beyond that. Have you read the BBC’s finger-wagging admonishment of the poors / puff piece for United Health?
Historically we can change zero big things at a time. But I agree with you. Our rate of change has got to change. (Mathematics/physics joke goes here.)
Oh believe me, I’m fully aware of the underlying causes for the public’s reaction here.
Yeah I can see how the quote is super misleading.
I’m going to extra hell for laughing at this.
I think you’re probably misinterpreting the quote. Here’s the reporting on this from the NYT:
Mayor Eric Adams said Friday morning that the investigation was “on the right track.” In an interview on Spectrum News NY1, the mayor added: “This person was fully masked, and we used good old-fashioned police work to come up with the picture you have.”
I think what the mayor is saying here is that because the alleged killer was masked, the cops actually had to do some detective work, canvas door-to-door maybe, pull security footage, that sort of thing. It wasn’t just a case of sitting back and running facial recognition on the killer like something outta CSI.
Unless you’re thinking of a different quote.
I’m going to assume we all saw those security camera photos and immediately thought of the Drake meme. Because you and I couldn’t have been the only ones…
Tariffs also have a way of sticking around long after the reason for their introduction is forgotten.
