Well since nobody said my favorite yet ill toss out History.
Maybe all the winning he promised us was the numerous lawsuits against him along the way?
I was not. Thats awesome. Thanks for sharing!
Most of the bad things to happen to elves and men (of which the events of LotR are kind of just a blip on the radar) are because a long time ago (even by elven standards) an asshole jewel-smith named Feänor got too obsessed with Galadriel’s hair because it looked like the light that came from two magical trees.
Edit: Feänor is Galadriel’s Half-Uncle.
Tolkien Lore Quick Fact:
Technically speaking Aragorn married his first cousin 65+ times removed.
WWI Quick Fact:
While thought of as a defensive struggle that lead to stalemates, generals at the time weren’t necessarily wrong to keep up the attack. Both sides were able to capture ground. Including enemy trenches. The issue was that neither side could bring reinforcements or supplies up to support those breakthroughs and keep the offensive going faster than the defenders could.
Tolkien Lore. And WWI.
Agreed. Between the Americans shunning the second republican government in the Western Hemisphere and UK and France (one supposedly the ideal liberal democracy in a time of monarchs, the other a freshly born republic themselves) you are absolutely right.
Yeah Haiti might hold the record for most fucked over country in history. And that is saying a lot.
“Tuna Salad.”
You know it is bad when FIFA has to be the one to do the right thing.
I have beaten it once solo, have restarted solo, and am at various different spots in different runs with different friends. In my opinion it is the best RPG since Fallout: New Vegas.
If you have experience with DnD 5E then this will feel like a really good adaptation of that ruleset into a video game. If you do not, i recommend looking at some BG3 starter/class guides to kinda get a feel for how you want to play (though that said, dont feel locked in. There is a character you can meet in Act 1 that will be in your camp that will let you respec yourself or your companions for pretty cheap).
Kinda related to this, but we know prior to the 2016 Russia hacked the DNC emails and only really released info about them talking shit on/working against Bernie (potentially the most damaging info/most helpful to get Trump elected).
We also know that they hacked the RNC, but didnt release any info from it. And we also know the NRA was receiving Russian funds and then donating to Trump and other Republicans.
So it isnt far fetched to believe that between the carrot of campaign donations and the stick of leaking sensitive RNC emails Russia was attempting to force the RNC to force a potential Russian asset in power to cripple/break up NATO to continue Russia’s expansion into Western Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa.
Imagine the lack of support given the invasion of Ukraine if Trump were president. If anything Trump would jump on recognizing the gains as Russian territory.
MLK was killed by the US Government/with Government warning and approval not because of his policies on race, but because his message was getting (though somewhat always had been) socialist/anti-capitalist, and between the historic fear of slave revolts, the new fear of communist revolutions, and the monied business interests not wanting to cede any power they ended MLK to prevent potential calls for a social revolution.
Haiti might be the most fucked over country in history, and that is saying a lot.
Do you mean ultimate badass Talenel’Elin , Herald of War?
Republican party leadership like
That’s understandable. If audiobooks still dont quite do it for you there are some absolutely fantastic history podcasts out there.
Hardcore History by Dan Carlin is great for deep diving into different topics. His Supernova in the East does an excellent job of explaining things about Imperial Japan and WW2 battles in the Pacific, and his King of Kings is an excellent dive into ancient Persia and the kind of “Hollywood-ization” of the ancient greeks.
Lions Led by Donkeys is a more laid back, but still really insightful military history podcast that not only covers older military examples of poor/crazy leadership at the top (the title being a reference to an observation made about the British by a German general in WWI), but also more modern conflicts spanning the globe too.
There are plenty of others over numerous topics, but i’d be remiss if I didn’t mention both The History of Rome and Revolutions by Mike Duncan. The latter probably being my favorite history podcast so far.
